If the Browns trade him they will take a $16 million CAP hit when they already have a significant CAP problem to deal with. The Browns are effectively $31 million over the CAP now and if you look at Over-the CAP the Brown don't have many places where they can save significant CAP dollars, at least not by cutting players. They can restructure Watson's contract to get a CAP save, but then they are prolonging the problem with a QB who is likely never going to play for them again.

For Cleveland to take on this additional CAP issue by trading Garrett, my guess is they will want a lot more than a 3rd and a 5th. I bet they will continue to state they have no interest in trading him until someone comes up with a serious offer of draft capital.

Unlike some high priced players who would be hard to move due to their contracts, Garrett is due to make less than $2 million in salaries over the next two years and he is due $5 million roster bonuses in each of the next two years. That's chump change for a player of his caliber. Garrett supposedly wants a new deal which I assume will be a major commitment of money from his new team, but to take him on now involves very little cash.

It's sarcasm. I doubt it will happen anyway. Washington with another 100 million to spend is better positioned to land the 29-year-old pass rush phenom. I think I heard late last night signed Samuel for a 5. They can afford to throw money away to create a couple year window with older players.

Roseman already said don’t expect a crazy offseason. Highly doubtful this move is made.

With the way their cap is structured going to be nearly impossible to add him.

Maybe one a one or two year deal. But Baun is about to be locked up. They have Carter and Davis to lock up in a few seasons.

They wouldn't do that for a guy like that. Roseman would give him at least a 3 year deal and push the bk. of the money at the back end of the contract. I don't doubt they'll pick somebody up to fill the space of dominated, and Milton who will be leaving the Eagles. Sweat dominated the Super Bowl so he's not exactly chopped liver.

For the most part, I think cowboy fans realize the way the team is managed is below average. This post reeks of denial of the state of affairs. As fan, it is one thing to have hope year in and year out, but this is just sad as it gets.

Roseman isn't wasting his locker rooms time trying to find a Super Star QB...and has no problem paying around market rate of 20% average contract salary vs cap at the time of signing.

This board wastes too much time talking money about one players contract.

Sure, Jerry has overpaid other players, but so have other GMs. Jerry might have an issue paying top dollar to too many positions, but he isn't overpaying at QB. 20% vs cap at signing is fair for starting QBs...good or bad talent wise. The ball is on their hands and decisions being made by them over 20% of snaps for most teams. That's why agents and owners agree on this 20% thing....yet this board uses the subject as fuel for controversy...for click money I guess.

Yes, I'm aware Roseman booted Wentz quickly. But he also paid fair market value for a QB most consider no where near Brady.

It would make sense for Philthy if they badly needed pass rush but they do not

Now the commodes are trying to get over the hump and a top quality pass rusher could do it. We all saw what pass rush accomplished in the Super Bowl.
if I was the commodes GM I would bust a gut to get Garrett. yeah he probably only has a couple of years of top production left but if you get a SB with him as a significant contributor then it is worth it

Reggie White. Man he was good. He was also a guy that in his prime racked up 70 sacks in his first 4 years. Even the anomaly he was his last 4 years he had 41 sacks. Even as great as he was you can't beat father time. I think Reggie had 21 sacks in 14 games if I'm not mistaken.

Just like the Cowboys the Eagles have work to do this offseason. But they have Roseman; we have Jones and Son. Advantage Eagles.

Credibility and credentials. This Jeff Kerr dude that wrote the article linked in the OP seems to have at least some credibility as a reporter. He also has NFL press credentials evidently. You lack both most likely. That is the difference in his report and yours.

He may be a very credible dude.

But he's not saying anything.

He's just posting links to 2 nothing articles, one of which doesn't mention Garrett, the other which is just a fan podcast, with as much substance as my Bijan post.

This Kerr dude doesn't even say that he himself has heard something. Nor does he even say he thinks it could happen. He basically said "hey, look at these 2 articles"

He doesn't even give his opinion of the links he posted.

I see that you do not like the message and you are going after the messenger. Welllllllll.....If you do a quick search of "Garrett and the Eagles" you will find several LIKE stories on the same subject by multiple reporters and multiple servers other than CBS sports. You have a lot more reporters to blast. And Garrett is demanding a trade out of Cleveland it seems.

But as I said in a post above the meat of all this to me is not about Garrett. It is about Philly potentially losing a lot of front seven D guys and how Roseman will handle it. Like the Cowboys the Eagles have off season issues. But IMHO they are better prepared to handle them because of Roseman. OH, how I would love for Dallas to have such a GM.

Yes… Eventually, they will have to endure a couple years where they have no money. Probably after two or three more deep playoff runs. And what will their penalty be for a couple seasons of cap hell? A couple years of high draft picks… Which will facilitate them rinsing and repeating the same thing they just did

What we do is great… If you want to be good for an extended period of time… But in a lot of ways, good is one of the many enemies of great.

Myles Garrett has avoided injuries for most of his career and has about five steps to lose. If I was a GM, I'd have high confidence that he will put up All-Pro type of production for the next 3 seasons, and I'd pay him accordingly.
