CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Detroit Lions could select Alabama G Chance Warmack No. 5 overall.
"Chance Warmack had very impressive visit with Lions. Not out of the question at all Detroit looks at the guard with that 5th overall pick," La Canfora tweeted. This is the first we've heard this sort of news, as the team has largely been mocked cornerbacks and offensive tackles with their pick. Warmack, however, wouldn't be a poor selection because he's the best guard in the draft and arguably the best player.

Warmack will go alot higher than most currently think he will. No 5 would not be bad move as Warmack is probably best player in this draft.

No way is a gurad going to be a top 5 pick. I have a hard time even believing a guard could be a top ten pick

Maybe Detroit is looking to trade down into that range ;-)

Then that would be the player they covet once the trade is made.

Can pick up an extra 2nd rounder.

If it's Miami that would trade they would be going after the tackle 9Fischer or Joeckel if Fischer is taken 1st) and Detroit would still have their pick of Lane Johnson or Warmack if OL is what they truly covet.

I would have said this was impossible until this off season when the pass rusher, tackle and corner market collapsed. But I think this is likely a smokescreen unless Fisher is gone. Teams also have to have contingencies if they trade down from their pick.

I can see if Fisher and Joeckle go 1 and 4, they might take a call from Miami or San Diego for Lane Johnson.
