Here in Maryland, the CBS 6 o'clock Channel 9 News just reported the Skins are indeed very interested in Hayesworth. The kicker in the report was they aren't the only team in the NFC East interested. They said the Gaints are also going to be in the mix as well as the Bucs.

Now I don't see Haynesworth as a problem with the skins due to their d-line always seems to be none existent for whatever reason. But you add Haynesworth to an already strong Giants d-line plus Osi will be back next year and WOW. This is not something I want our YoYo (up & down) o-line to have to deal with at least twice a year.

Come on Bucs, go get your man.

Why is it that all the prime time players go to the NFC East? I want all of these players out of the East unless of course they wear a :star: .

I don't really care where he lands. He's a bit overrated. Very good, but overrated, and I'm confident Gurode can handle him any time we meet whoever he plays for.

Albert Haynesworth will be a Washington Commander
• • •
** Update ** Just to be clear, I'm not accusing the Commanders of tampering (although NFL agents will all tell you that if teams don't at least make contact with players early they will greatly diminish their chances of landing them via free agency) but I am saying that there will be a monster deal for Haynesworth coming from the Commanders. Do you honestly think that Dan Snyder needs to tamper with anyone? He just has to wallet whip the other team into submission. That isn't tampering, that's just having a ton of cheese and a willingness to spend it (no matter how unsound the move might be).

Remember back on December 23rd when I told you guys that Scott Pioli would be the GM for the Kansas City Chiefs before anyone had it? I got it from a very well-connected league source. That source is talking (actually texting) again.

Has Albert Haynesworth played his last game for the Titans? This time around he tells me that the Washington Commanders will break the bank to sign Albert Haynesworth. The Titans could come over the top of the Commanders deal as well, but my guess is that the Commanders will let Haynesworth get the best offer possible from the Titans and then "better deal" it.
My source tells me to look for a contract that could break $100 million with an average of $15 million to $16 million per. My guy is almost never wrong and Dan Snyder gets what he wants. As a Texan fan, I would really be devastated to see Haynesworth leave the division ... only, no I wouldn't. Beat it, Haynesworth.

When he's playing to his potential (aka he tries hard) he's not overrated. His ability is definitely not overrated.

But I think he'll get his money and coast. He won't play hard like he did this year.

If the Giants sign Haynesworth, what are Osi and Tuck going to demand?

But the signs are still present that Haynesworth could be living in a location where WUSA will be on his regular rotation of channels.
Indeed, Sara Walsh of WUSA observes that much of her one-hour interview with Haynesworth involved the player asking the reporter questions about life in D.C. and “what the Commanders are like.”

And why was Haynesworth being interviewed by a television station in the D.C. area? At a time when Haynesworth’s agent, Chad Speck, has tried to dispel rumors that Haynesworth will sign with the ‘Skins, allowing Haynesworth to be interviewed by a media outlet in the team’s home market walks, talks, and quacks like an effort to get the local fans acquainted with the franchise’s soon-to-be-newest player.

I don't understand this statement. He is easily the most dominate inside player in the league. You can't be overrated if your that person.

As for Gurode handling him. He can for the most part. He won't always stop him, but Haynesworth didn't do him wrong in that Titan's game because he was dominating Gurode. He did it because Gurode was dominating him.

With the money that the Bucs have, I would bet that he would be a Buc they can out bid everyone.

Long article so here's some nuggets:

The Washington Commanders plan to pursue Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth if he becomes a free agent tomorrow -- though it appears their salary cap situation might prevent them from signing the Pro Bowl performer -- and hope to reach a contract agreement with cornerback DeAngelo Hall before the market opens, NFL sources said yesterday.

The Commanders also have significant interest in Dallas defensive end Chris Canty, according to league sources, who would be a far less expensive alternative to Haynesworth, and are seeking upgrades along the offensive line, though likely only by pursuing second-tier free agents.

Canty, 26, who started all 16 games and had three sacks last season for the Cowboys, is regarded as a younger, more dynamic version of Commanders veteran Phillip Daniels, according to a team source. He could occupy multiple blockers and stuff the run on first and second downs, rush from the inside on third downs and would be much more cost-effective than Haynesworth. The role Canty could fill for the Commanders was Demetric Evans's job last season, which could explain why the team has not extended a contract offer to Evans with him eligible for free agency.

Meanwhile, negotiations with Hall's representatives, Joel Segal and Alvin Keels, began last week during the NFL scouting combine at Indianapolis and remain ongoing, team sources said. Hall could command upwards of $15 million guaranteed. The Commanders, who sat on the sideline during the free agent period last offseason, have made many moves in the past two weeks to create salary cap room, in part, to make a multiyear offer to Hall and compete for Haynesworth, the sources said.

Okay, let me ask this question. Would you pay that much for the most dominant center or guard in the league?

Of course you wouldn't.
