I am just putting up the Cowboys pick...

27. Dallas Cowboys -- Iowa DT Carl Davis: At the Senior Bowl he demonstrated his motor runs hot. He is disruptive inside and also ran 5.06 at 320 lbs. Henry Melton has been released and the Cowboys need big, quick people inside on the defensive line.

Using the senior bowl as proof that a player has a good motor is pretty idiotic by Kirwan. I wouldn't mind Davis in the 2nd, but there's no way I'm taking a guy who looked mediocre at best the majority of the time in college with a 1st rounder

I think he has potential. I worry about him though. He has been labeled as a player who takes plays off while at Iowa. Marinelli might be able to coach that out of him though.

You never know with these big kids who have talent yet have their work ethic or ability in games questioned.

Coming out Alberta Haynesworth had that type of question with him and he proved it true in the NFL after getting a big contract.

Coming out Dontari Poe had all the measurables and looked good in post season college stuff but did not have much going on during his college game tape....he has been much better since being in the pros.

Hard to tell with these guys.

We all worried about Dontari Poe coming out of Kentucky too. How did that work out for the Chiefs?

You have to be careful comparing two different players like that. Poe is and was 100% more athletic than Davis. For every Poe, there are 10 players who slack off. I'm not saying that Davis is one of those, but am saying that he didn't always play like a beast and may have taken plays off. What is going to keep him from doing that in the pros?

If anything, Marinelli.

I expected him to pick Davis for us. He mentioned him yesterday during the coverage of the Cowboys on his 'Movin' the Chains' radio show on Sirius/XM NFL Radio.

But I don't expect us to go that route. I think Marinelli is the 'defensive tackle whisperer' who can get better production out of lesser pedigreed players at that position and I expect them to draft it accordingly.

I don't see us drafting 1 tech either in first round. Could be DE, CB, OL in my opinion. But could be any random player player high on their board that slipped a bunch. You never know.

I don't think Davis is in the same category as Poe. Poe is much bigger and more athletic to boot. His potential was through the roof, while Davis could be a nice player, he's no where near the prospect Poe was.

Yes but Poe went high in the draft...we are drafting at 27. Of course he does not have the same through the roof potential as poe.

I don't know if anybody can compare to Poe's measurable(s). He ran a 4.89 forty at 346 pounds.

A better reference for measurable(s) would be Suh:
Name: Carl Davis
Height: 6045
Weight: 320
40 Yrd Dash: 5.07
10 Yrd Dash: 1.73
Vertical Jump: 33
Broad Jump: 08'07"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.47
3-Cone Drill: 7.91

Name: Ndamukong Suh
Height: 6037
Weight: 307
40 Yrd Dash: 5.03
10 Yrd Dash: 1.69
Vertical Jump: 35 1/2
Broad Jump: 08'09"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.44
3-Cone Drill: 7.21

Can't see the Cowboys passing over Gurley for a 1T with question marks.

The bust rate for DT in the first round is the highest in football over the past 20 years.

I'm not a fan of DT or WR in the first round as a general rule. Specific prospects can overcome that of course.

How'd Rashad Hageman do? I'd pass on Davis in the 1st.
