CBS Pete Prisco Mock Draft 9.0

Dallas definitely needs to get stronger in the middle...but, Jordan Phillips is not the player I would select at #27 to aid in that mission.

If that scenario happens (Gurley, Gordon, Johnson, and Brown all gone) we trade down.

To be fair to this mock... how many of you would have been grabbing torches and pitchforks 2 years ago had a mock draft had us passing on Floyd then drafting this 2nd-3rd round talent named Fredbeard at the end of the first. That seems to have worked out pretty well for us.

Dallas is weak at the DT position with the exception of Crawford. However, Jordan Phillips would be a reach.

If Malcom Brown or Eddie Goldman falls to the 27th pick I would be jumping for joy if Dallas selects one of them.

If we did select him at 27 I wouldn't like it but I would be intrigued by the potential.

I drafted Frederick to Green Bay at the end of the first round in a user mock two months before that draft. So I had no problem with him being picked where he was. I thought the people who had him in the 3rd-5th round were nuts.

I don't think Phillips is a fit for us in the first. A tall player with a back problem that has shown inconsistent effort. If he's there in the second I could definitely see it, hoping to unlock him and lessening the investment for the risk on his back.

With what he had mocked there I'd prefer Byron Jones. Another bit of an upside play, but one that feels a like a bit more of a scheme fit.

Probably would have liked it way less without the trade down to 31.

message to all would be mockers and so called experts-the chances the cowboys draft a DT in the first RD is less than 5 percent.

Byron Jones, OO, and Kendricks still there. Gurley at 23 would be a short trade up.

I think they would pick Malcolm Brown. I just dont see him getting past Detroit.

Here is the cowboys selection which makes you just roll your eyes wondering why some of these guys do so little homework...

27. Dallas Cowboys -- Oklahoma DT Jordan Phillips: A power player who fits a need. They have to get stronger in the middle.

I actually wonder how some guys remain employed in this insanely tough industry considering their work product.

The stronger in the middle comment is pretty odd. The team has one good and PROVEN young DL... a 3T, and they have one of the strongest guys in football in Brent playing NT.
That's backed up by arguably the biggest, most physical MLB in football.
