Which club that currently has a winning record will have the most trouble making the playoffs?

I'll go with the San Francisco 49ers (3-2) for a variety of reasons. The first is schedule. They have games left at Houston, Indianapolis, Green Bay and Philadelphia. They have home games against Chicago and Arizona. Plus, they have quarterback issues. Shaun Hill regressed in a big way in the loss to Atlanta two weeks ago, which is a concern as they come out of their bye. Could Alex Smith be coming soon? The 49ers don't throw it well enough to win in this league. Mike Singletary has done some good things, but I think it will unravel some in the next month. Arizona will win the NFC West. The 49ers aren't good enough to be a wild-card team.

Clark Judge

Dallas. The Cowboys (3-2) have all sorts of troubles, from an inconsistent quarterback to a head coach under fire to an ordinary offensive line to a defense that has trouble covering the pass and doesn't force turnovers. Now you add the Cowboys' division, the NFC East. Dallas is no better than the third-best team there, and that's trouble if you're looking at a wild card. You figure you're up against teams like the Giants or Eagles, the Falcons and probably the Bears or Packers. The Cowboys aren't better than any of those teams, though it's a close call with Chicago and Green Bay. The problem is you're talking about two spots, and I give one to the NFC East runner-up and the other to the NFC South runner-up. Now you look at Dallas' schedule, and three of its last five games are on the road -- including the Giants and New Orleans. So the Cowboys make an unexpected late charge against those teams? I don't think so.

Dallas hands down, if we were in the West with SF I would still pick Dallas to miss.

Theres no way the team we have right now even if we do get a wildcard spot will go anywhere in the playoffs. Our division is too tough and we had to go to overtime to beat KC.

They could with an 8-8 record as bad as that group is.

Yeah and their 3-0 in their division already. I believe they will most likely go either 5-1 or 6-0 in that division.

I wouldn't shovel dirt on AZ yet. This Atlanta game is a HUGE game for the end of the year tiebreaks. We need this W!

Is this an Eagles critique?

Let them speculate all they want right now. We only played 5 games and are in the middle of the pack. Sunday's game will show if we belong in contention or not. Even for some reason if we lose does not put us out, but wil hurt very bad for a spot.

It will be HOW we played. If sloppy and full of penalties and mistakes. Romo still throwing behind the WR's, defense giving up big passing plays.
Then yes it will be a long season.
If we play tough, hard fought game as where these stupid things didn't happen and didn't hurt us, but just simply lost to a good team. Then there are signs of improvement even at 3-3.

With all that, I still feel this is a must win, and win with style.

If our competition to reach the playoffs is San Fran, I like our chances.

Me too. I think San Fran is playing way above their capabilities right now. Shaun Hill at QB? Yuck.

wonder if Judge wishes he could retract this now... especially the part about not being better than atlanta.

I don't know Singletary ranting and raving on the sidelines that goes a long way in winning games except for the fact the Falcons handed them their butts and then 49ers lost to the Texans yesterday after having a bye week to get ready for the game. Oh well I guess all that hollering amounts to nothing. :laugh2:
