Andy Reid, Chiefs, SB Champs #1
McVay, Rams #2
Shanahan, 49ers #3
Harbaugh, Ravens #4
LaFleur, Packers #5
Nick Sirriani, Eagles #15
McCarthy, Cowboys #17
Sean Payton, Broncos #18
DQ, Commanders #20
Brian Daboll, Giants #21

Season: 5th with Cowboys, 18th as head coach
Career record: 167-102-2 | Playoffs: 11-11 (1-0 in Super Bowls)

From a resume standpoint, McCarthy deserves higher billing; his 167 career wins rank 18th all time, and his Super Bowl peak proves he can win on the ultimate stage. The issue is that, even provided an all-star setup in Dallas, his offensive touch has recently and consistently struggled to translate when it matters most: Despite three straight 12-win seasons, his Cowboys are 1-3 in playoff competition.

17th ranked coach.

Just lost another almighty 20th ranked coach..... to Washington.

Had two mediocre coaches in the last 3 years. Add another mediocrity Kellen Moore.

Defense gave up 30+ points 3 times in his playoff career. Name me one player in the NFL currently besides old as heck Rodgers and Stafford whose defense has given up 30 points 3 times in career.

Overhyped players (Diggs, Parsons, Bland) no shows in the last 2 playoff games. Diggs literally no showed lol.

5:0 ratio sacks given up vs San Francisco first game. Dak sacked 6 times. Jimmy 0.

Pressure right in his face on a do or die 4th and 10 play and still nearly got it to Wilson.

Washed up GM done nothing in last 30 years in the postseason.

Name me one person who can overcome these hurdles. I'd like to you to name just one. I'll wait.

There's no God who can. It's not a matter of a perfect situation. He's just completely up against it.

I do not think Payton should be that low; he did have a ring and an overall winning record. Actually, I think McCarthy is low as well.

It's hard to believe that you still find ranking somehow valid... :muttley::espn:

I mean if it validates your argument I didn't look at this list but I think it's insane that has a coach that hasn't finished below the top 12 but really the last three years have been top six in the NFL and the regular season, can be ranked that low and who beat the Eagles 2 times out of the last three seasons for the division which I believe the Eagles head coaches probably way low on the rankings too..

these rankings are ridiculous where's all the ones in the space between, I see the top four and then it skips down to the Eagles and whatnot but how does Sean Payton who did nothing between his retirement and then what with one year with Denver did he have the number two seed and win his division last year you mean Sean Payton who couldn't seem to work with Russell Wilson and now so much so wants to change that they're eating $85 million in dead cap money to get rid of Wilson for a cup of coffee hmmm ?

Rankings are stupid, that's right I said it they're ignorant people who believe in any of these things that are all straight up hyperbole, rhetoric ,thick opinions,

they're not real none of it's real yeah I'll take Amy Reed and Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs is number one in about every category because that's who's been winning all the Super bowls, everything else it's how anyone else wants to see it...

Perspective is a weird thing and people who make these rankings don't know Jack **** really it's all what they feel they're seeing on the field but how about let's see who had more talent who should have went further and didn't I mean how could we have it both ways here , you're sticking up for Prescott which you probably should but isn't it supposed to be the narrative around here that Jerry Jones does not do much in the offseason so we're working with less talent with no all in no high risk no sense of urgency to put all the pieces and at least go for it ???!

and yet you're going to sit here and defend Prescott and rip McCarthy?? I think it's the other way around I think both of them are working with less so now you have to go compare them to what do these other coaches have let's go with San Francisco and the loaded team that GM put over there and all the players they have in the pieces, and they still haven't won a Super Bowl since 1994...

Could it be he's highly overrated because he's gotten every advantage and still can't get over the hump and then when they do every offseason give them even more, I mean how many pieces does a coach need to win a Super Bowl? They've changed just about any everything but the Head coach..

The thread is about head coach rankings, not the QB. Stop trying to change the topic.
its part of the package no matter how much you want to hide from that fact
GM, Coaches, QB
the three biggest factors in a teams success or lake thereof.

I actually don't remember ever hearing this guy's name.

32. Dennis Allen (Saints)

Season: 3rd with Saints, 6th as head coach
Career record: 24-46 | Playoffs: N/A

Dennis Allen ? Really . How about the parade of coaches Carolina trots out lately . I guess they have a rookie coach now so 32 is something to shoot for .

They adopted a new rule a while back and are enforcing it. It’s a stiff violation. All it takes is hitting the report button.
