10. CBS still in Thursday night mix

The NFL and CBS had some early-season bad luck after the network became involved in carrying the sport’s package of Thursday night and Saturday night games this season. The first four Thursday night games carried by CBS, along with the league-owned NFL Network, were decided by 20, 42, 31 and 32 points.

Even so, CBS will be back next season. The league and the network announced Sunday that CBS will broadcast eight Thursday night games in the first half of next season. Those games will be simulcast on the NFL Network. The NFL Network will carry eight Thursday night games in the season’s second half. There also will be two late-season Saturday games. CBS will produce all 16 Thursday and Saturday games.

The deal again is for one year with an NFL option for an additional season.

Glad they aren't all on the NFL network. I hate watching those games because they block out most of the crowd. It makes it seem drab.

So increase the cap to 145mil now. I kept saying dont hang on to that 140 mil cap but people never want to think outside the box. Hell dont be suprised if the cap is over 145mil. NFL would save itself alot of headaches if they just got rid of the salary cap. "MY DNA is offended" Who saw that interview from that senator who said that?

Thursday night games have been horrible for the most part and eight more games with Phil Simms doing color commentary doesn't make it anymore watchable.

Yes, Phil Simms is the most person person I've even seen on television.

If they actually cared about player safety and quality of play, they would scrap the Thursday night games. But we know better...

Thursday games are terrible...I always watch the college football game on ESPN instead.

Teams are going to get real creative trying NOT to spend to the salary cap. It could be close to 175m in a few years when you account for all the new TV contracts. The cheaper owners are going to want to pocket that money.

I agree. If the league is still concerned with parity they could always add a luxury tax for the teams that wanted to spend and a hard floor to make sure cheaper teams weren't just pocketing profits or tanking.

I am ready to start a petition to remove phil simms from broadcasting-half the time he is rambling and hardly makes sense.i have no idea why CBS is sticking with him when he can hardly construct a proper sentence.
