Dennis Anyone? 11/7
Posted by CBS11
-- Oh...just another weekend for some opinions and musings...
-- I interviewed MICHAEL IRVIN recently for an upcoming CBS 11 Sports special on Texas Stadium. I asked him...the worst thing about the ole stadium...and the best thing about the ole stadium. "The wet spots on the outside"...his worst. He said the drainage was poor and it left wet spots on the edges of the field, where he once made his living. "Its home. Its home. And that hole in the roof...we not only showed off our butts in front of 70,000...we also got to show off our butts in front of GOD!"....his best.
-- Speaking of Hall of Fame wide receivers...TERRELL OWENS said this week...that Tony Romo doesn't need to be superman and save this team. I agree with him. Tony just needs to be normal Tony. If he does that and saves this team...it will just feel like he is superman.
-- GET YOUR GUNS UP! It has been a long time, as in never, since I have rooted for a college football team (like I am for TEXAS TECH)...other than mine...to go undefeated and win the national title. Not sure why. That crazy man! Leach probably has something to do with it. The fact...the Techies...have never been in this position probably has more to do with it. (Plus, I do have two nephews in school in Lubbock and I'm secretly hoping this season will turn those two little geniuses into football fans).
-- I think the wife and I are taking our little goofy girl to one of those video game places this weekend. The mission? Find me a SPACE INVADERS game! Was there a better video game ever invented? When my wife and I were in college, campuses far, far apart, we used to write letters thrice weekly. (I know...that is sooo cute). Both of us would add a few quarters in each letter...for the other to go play Space Invaders. Now that is love, baby! (for the video game, I mean).
-- What is BRAD JOHNSON still doing on the Cowboys roster? What good does a 40-year-old third stringer do you? Come on guys...go rob a practice squad or something...and bring in a young quarterback who may actually help you down the road.
-- My former radio partner JENNIFER FLOYD ENGLE of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram is pregnant. I am very happy for her and her husband (also of the Star-Telegram) "Macwell Smart" Engle. The Little Ball of Hate (her radio nickname)...will learn in about five months...what...a little ball of love is all about.
-- PREDICTIONS...the COWBOYS will be 10 and 5 or maybe 9 and 6 going into the final game of the season against the EAGLES. They win...they make the playoffs...they lose they don't. Not only will the ARIZONA CARDINALS be a playoff team...they will be a darn scary one. LSU beats Bama' this weekend....and since it is the BYE WEEK...I predict I will lay around ALOT this weekend...watching college and NFL football.
-- THUMBS UP Cowboys...all of those who have been working hard to get healthy...and will re-enter the fun in Washington.
-- THUMBS DOWN Cowboys...Head Coach Wade Phillips...for once again... throwing too many OFF-DAYS at his players. His mantra seems to be...when the going gets tough...WE GET OFF!
-- Just another couple of weeks or so...before I dive into one of my favorite "annual only" pleasures in life. PUMPKIN PIE!
