DENNIS, ANYONE?

<snip>

---I had a nice visit with Cowboys wide receiver MILES AUSTIN this week. (You can see the interview on The Score tonight). Several times he told me he will do whatever the team needs him to do...kick returns...tackle on special teams...catch passes...whatever...and I completely believe him. This is such a humble, unassuming kid...with no hidden agendas...and no other motivation but to help his team...I couldn't help but to be struck by how opposite he seems from the receiver he is trying to replace. More Romo friendly? No question. As productive? Big question.

---Another PREDICTION...the NFL draft is coming...and I believe the two players the Cowboys get that will bring the most buzz...excitement...or hope for the future...will be a wide receiver and a quarterback.

Gotta love Miles. His approach to the game is refreshing. I hope he can stay healthy this year and show us how he's put that potential to practice.

As for Austin, I would rather limit his role to WR as he tends to get hurt playing special teams.

I honestly don't see JJ doing this.

Of course, that means he probably will.

I really don't care much for the Wildcat. It seems like a gimmick offense that will be short-lived. I would rather focus on solid running, smash-mouth football and working off of the play-action pass and RB screens.

Also, not sure why a QB will bring the most hope for the future either.

I'm o.k. with Romo for the next few years.

Something tells me if White is sitting there in the 3rd there will be no controlling Jerry and more disturbing is that the closer we get to the draft the more I feel I'm going to be living 2001 all over again.

OK, tell me the truth, in the 3rd P White or Casey? :D

Those are your only two options.

It is a gimmick offense.

The greatest benefit of occasionally being able to use such a look is forcing opposing defenses to spend valuable practice time on something they may not even see.

I believe in having trick plays in the playbook, but it obviously takes a back seat to the regular scheme and executing it as well as possible.

I would be down with Pat White except for the fact that he has to learn how to play WR

guys like Crayton, Antwaan Randle-El, who've made the successful switch from QB to WR in the NFL played some WR in college

From what I've been reading on P White, he hasn't run routes during his Pro Day, for example. He's basically been focusing on playing QB. I think several scouts were a bit disappointed that he didn't run routes.

Not saying that he won't play WR, but I'm not sure if he really wants to.

That said, I think he is supposed to be a good PR.

But I still wouldn't take him in the 3rd.

or 4th but if he's there in the 5th I would be all for Jerry getting his little toy. Jerry annoys and scares the **** out of me some times when he gets like this.

yep, so all offseason would be White just getting into learning how to play WR instead of starting to fine-tune his game, we're probably be going to be waiting on him like Stanback, impatiently I might add

In the 4th or 5th I'd be o.k.

But to tell you the truth, I still don't understand why Stanback or Crayton (or maybe even F Jones) can't fill in for a couple plays per game in the Wildcat?

I'd think Stanback would be ideal for it. He's supposed to be a good runner with the ball in his hands, he's fast, and he can definitely throw the ball.

AND, we save a draft pick.

JJ wants Stanback to focus on WR, which makes sense, but we're only talking about a couple of plays in this formation now and then, correct?
