The Cowboys were the first team to open training camp last Saturday, and the first team on my 14-team training-camp tour. After three practices and time talking to a lot of players, I left thinking the Cowboys might end up being the best team I see all summer.

That includes both Super Bowl teams from the 2009 season.

Is there a more talented roster than the Cowboys, who return 20 of 22 starters from a team that won the first playoff game for the franchise in 13 years?

The more I hear Jenkins interviewed/quoted the more I like him.

"There are no superstars."

I'm sure in the NFL its so incredibly easy to go ego tripping. Hopefully the team can stay grounded this year.

This team has exuded nothing but blue-collar humility, hard work, and kept things absolutely low-key. And what does the media say? The Cowboys have an inflated head and have all but guaranteed a Lombardi before the season has even begun!

I know what you mean. The media seems to talk about the 13 yr gap between playoff wins more now, than they did before the playoff victory against the eagles.

If you want to experience an out-of-body deja vu kind of feeling, go back into the archives of this forum and find the preseason of 2008. You'll find similiar sentiments shared for the Cowboys by fellow 'zoners and media.

Personally, I'm big believer in the reverse psychology strategem.

Write doom and gloom articles about how our team's going to suck because of the pathetic OL and lack of depth. Overreact to injuries sufferred in camp and claim the season's over before it even starts. Yell and scream how the Cowboys screwed up by selecting Dez Bryant instead of a quality offensive lineman. Eliminate all the positives and accentuate all the negatives of the players and coaches in camp. Severely underestimate the quality and talent of this team to the nth degree until half our forum members cancel their NFL Sunday Ticket packages from DirecTv before the regular season begins.

Mix ingredients carefully so as to avoid instability. Add a dash of "Wade must go" and a sprinkle of "Garrett the Idiot". Simmer for 10 minutes on high heat. Let set for 1 hour or as needed. And *PRESTO*...

Which would be, of course, the correct way to answer the media that's covering them. But it's only half the solution.

My concern is...do the players/coaches really believe they're "world beaters"? We've seen it before with these guys. They think that all they have to do is show up and the opponent is suppose to simply lie down for them.

Those are some scary waters to be in.

Last season, didn't the media keep bringing up the fact with how the Cowboys' offense was constantly sputtering on their first series of each game?

I'll be sure to post the quote.
The next/first time I read or hear anyone suggest Rodgers is good BUT needs to prove it in the playoffs/win a playoff game, I will let everyone know.

I have a feeling I won't find it this year. If he doesn't win one this year than MAYBE we'll hear it in 2011.
