1:44 pm "My friends and family watch the games on TV and the announcers say, when the ball is high it's my fault but when the ball is high to Miles [Austin], it's Romo's fault." -- Cowboys WR Roy Williams on his season-long struggles with QB Tony Romo.
1:43 pm Cowboys defensive back coach Dave Campo was asked to comment on his field altercation with CB Terence Newman. Campo said, "I am good, that's it, I am good." Then he hustled away to a meeting with a smile on his face.

Yeah it is that way Roy cause a lot of times when Tony is high to Miles he still goes up and gets it. You go up and drop it. Get over it till you start making the catches.

Geesh. I really like this guy, and I really want him to do great, but his crying about things is really starting to get on my nerves.

.

Have to agree with that one.

Miles has some key drops too but two heroic games (and his undrafted pedigree) allow him a bit more slack. Romo has thrown some really terrible balls to Roy, but without any huge games to back him up, we tend to blame him more quickly. That's just how it is, fair on not.

To be fair Austin has missed his share of high balls this year also.

He caught that contested one in Kansas city but other than that he hasn't pulled in a lot of the high balls thrown to him.

Note I don't say drops, just high balls.

But Roy has to catch balls that he gets too hands on. He's gotta make a great play on his part some time. That's what we pay him to do and now he's just coming up with excuses.

I gotta hear the question and the context first. I'm a strong believer in Roy but this is coming up as a freaking excuse. He should have made one or two of those catches on Sunday and I would have loved it if he came out and was culpable.

Even Miles, speaking on the high ball in Greenbay, said he'd put any ball that hits his hands on him.

This is what is a turnoff for me about roy. He is so worried about what the media thinks and has to make sure to point out how his struggles are someone else's fault.

Just shut up and do whatever you can to help the team.

I agree. So sick of it. Why can't he just say "I need to catch that"

Such a pansy - can't own up to his own mistakes.

So worried about perception!

I still have to side with Roy. Romo threw some HORRIBLE passes on Sunday. But when they were going to Roy, it was about how Roy SHOULD have caught those DESPITE being bad passes. You'd hear the crowd boo.

But when it was a bad pass to Austin, all it was is a bad pass. There was no talk about how Austin SHOULD have made the catch despite it being a bad pass.

Whether you like Roy or not, fact is that if Romo would just throw better passes overall, this whole issue would go away.

I don't understand how fans can pick this guy apart, then when he makes a salient point about how this high pass things is perceived by the press and fans, they turn on him for whining.

Austin hasn't caught those passes either.

The two-hands on the ball pass was very high and a linebacker did hit him causing it to go to the ground.

Now he did fumble the ball a bit while it was in the air at first. But he was recovering and getting his hands on the ball as it passed.

He should have caught it the first time. But then the ball got away from him by the linebackers hit knocking him away from the catch.

But in any event, if Romo throws the ball accurately this would be put to rest one way or the other.

Hit the receiver in stride where he can make RAC yards and if Roy drops them then, we know.

But this sniping by fans who now are looking for someone to blame is ridiculous.

Austin has performed here in the past few weeks. Roy has dropped passes and fumbled the ball.

You expected any different?

a #1 wr needs to catch passes that hit his hands. that's all there is to it. drew brees throws horrible balls to his wr's all the time. they make some of the most amazing catches i've ever seen.

Roy has to catch those throws plain and simple.

Reasons for throwing it higher than normal maybe cause Romo sees a defender coming across and doesn't want to risk him cutting off roy and intercepting the ball. Throwing it slightly higher makes it easier for roy due to being easier to catch a ball coming at you than for a defender to catch a high ball running horizontally.
that is obviously an opinion, hell it could be anything from Romo believing Roy can catch anything outside the easy stomach shot to just bad throws by Romo.
Other WRs make the catches, and if they don't, they don't whine about it.

roy should of caught atleast two of those catches

Austin does not cry to the media either. He does not seem insecure that he may not really be the number 1. He does not say I should have been starting all along.

Roy brings all this crap on himself, he has noone to blame but himself. All he has to do is have some accountability and people would get off his back but he just makes it worse.

Around the NFL, good WR make their QB's look good. Dallas WR's make their QB look bad because they drop everything that is a tough catch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...Romo was chucking the ball 'round the yard as they would say...and on third down NONE of the receivers were clutch:

Name...Target..Catch..Yards

Witten.....2........0........0
Williams...3........0........0
Austin.....1........0........0

Totals.....6........0........0

per Sturm...

...i think Dallas is something like 6-23 on third downs over the last 8 quarters...then throw in Romo's INT on 4th down to Austin and the Dallas receiving corps really had a dreadful afternoon...

I do wish Roy would just keep playing hard--which he is--but play better and keep his trap shut.

As for Austin...there is no comparing the two because he as almost no pressure or expectations on him. He is thrilled to have the opportunity and would be a lunatic to make waves right now. I love his attitude, but frankly, the guy is an undrafted free agent who we did not pay a mint to acquire...so the pressure is very low.

Romo has had serious problems this year with overthrowing all his receivers. You throw a high pass to any WR outside of the sideline and you are lining him up to get wacked. I have not seen ANYONE going up for the passes, not just Williams.
