What do you think? Are they bad this year because of a lack of positive reinforcement? Is it because Marvin Lewis dares to express displeasure with their performance?

This may shed some light on it.

Cincinnati's performance was so maddening that coach Marvin Lewis screamed at his players in the locker room for several minutes.

"If you don't want to be on this team, please don't show up!" Lewis said, yelling so loud that reporters outside could hear. "You don't call the offense, you don't call the plays. You just play.

"Nowhere in the NFL do guys act like this. We've got to figure this out."

But you know some of this mess is Lewis' making.

It might also have something to do with Palmer being a biscuit shy of a left tackle.

Dude needs two chin straps.

I think it has more to do with their defense, or lack thereof, then anything else.

Palmer is playing decent.

I dunno.

Only two QBs in the league (Green and Brees) have thrown more picks than Palmer. He's not playing terrible, but he's not really stroking it right now.

Their run game, even with Johnson (who stupidly dropped 20 pounds) is anemic, so that's a big problem, I think.

Without question. It all started with the drafting of poor character. It continued with his lack of ability to control the players. Now, the team is in chaos and he isn't handling the situation right.

I think he has a great mind as a coach, he is just a poor leader. I see him like Norv Turner. The man has the mind to be damn good at what he does, but cannot command for ****.

I really like the Bengals and had them as my surprise AFC team this year. That prediction doesn't look so sound right about now.

From what I've read on the Bengals' MB, Lewis is a poor disciplinarian.

Also-they only had FOUR healthy LBs suiting up for last night's game-you talk about UN-preparedness.

There defense is awful and their offensive line is below average. Not really a big surprise that they are struggling.

Listened to a little bit of the game last night.

Commentators said they talked to DT Thornton and he said he is trying to teach the defense not to give up so easily.

Said if things are going ok they are ok, but as soon as something bad happens they all basically wilt.

The Bengals are the most over-rated team in the league. They have been for the last few years. They have won nothing nor did anything worthy of all the hype. Palmer plays like Jake Plummer. Why all the sports talk "experts" are so pro-Bengals is beyond me.

They were talking about it this morning on ESPN, and somebody said that his tirade was aimed @ Chad Johnson (Chad's pregame smack, and chit chat with belichick), but I don't see the offense being the problem.

As far as I'm concerned, it's all his fault. He drafts questionable players high, he doesn't demand discipline from his players and I think it shows.

This is exactly why you don't sign undedicated THUGS to your roster.

No one can convince me that all thsoe arrests haven't affected/distracted that team.

CJ is about the only player on that team that is backing up his words. CJ is the only reason the nasty-nati gets airtime still. I would give them the browns first rounder if they want to start draftin quality players and they want to part ways with him.
