Cee Dee on Pickens: We are both 1s

I think you are exactly right. This has been my problem with this trade. The better Pickens does, the more likely he is off the team next year. It seems to me that a best case scenario will end in a 3rd round comp pick. So what was the point of the trade?

It's not just the money either. If they wait until next year, the cap would take a bigger hit since there are no rookie years left to absorb the contract.

For me, the best case scenario is other teams are not sold on his 1 year improved behavior during a contract year and his price is more reasonable. But maybe that’s a pipe dream.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out next year.

You know CeeDee doesn’t mean that and is just saying it thinking team first. He will be pouting by the third game if he’s getting less than twice the targets as Pickens.

it’s not the difference between like not making the playoffs vs getting to the NFCCG (the new bar).

The hopeful side of me wants the NFCCG as the bar.

The realistic side of me says making the playoffs is the bar.

The betting side of me would look for somewhere else to bet.

Still too many question marks and unknowns for my taste.
