I was looking during the draft and it looks like it could go down as one of the worst sports trades in a long time.

The Celtics will most likely wind up with 3 high lottery picks ( top 3s) in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for an aging KG, Paul Peirce and Jason Terry

Not Herschel bad, but probably worse then RG3

That's usually what happens when you get desperate and try to PAY your way to a championship. The Celtics have built the right way, and they are really going to be a scary good team for years to come..

That being said, the Celtics bought themselves a championship in 2008 by assembling the Big 3, so I may have just proved myself wrong haha

Alot of team have tried and failed to follow a similar blueprint. What GMs sometimes forget is that Garnett's, Peirce's, and Allens games all complemted each other.

It was a horrible dumb trade at the time, I'm not sure if anyone every applauded the move. Adding Garnett and Pierce at their respective ages, was never gonna get you past Miami, never even got them to a conference finals, so giving up so many unprotected firsts was just dumb. As a Knicks fan, I liked the move at the time, because the Nets made several annoying little brother moves, just to mess with the Knicks (like we were worth messing with...). They drove up the price on Carmelo Anthony, when everyone knew he would not sign there long term. Then they signed a bunch of roll players from us, that anyone with half a brain knew that they would not be able to perform as well when more is expected of them.

However, the prospect of a good Boston team getting BK Nets picks in 2017 (swap) and 2018 (outright) scares me. I hope the Nets can sign enough free agents that they can keep that pick in the 5-10 range.

They are in a weird spot those pics. What do you keep and what do you trade and for what? They have a 50 win team, but definite playoff fodder without much upside on the roster. Do you make moves to add peices for a more immediate approach or do you keep they picks and play the long game. Try to control conference post Lebron? The only thing they can do right now to possibly compete with Cleveland is Durant and Horford. And that's very slim

if things don't work out in the offseason.. they need to start thinking about selling the house for boogie cousins. Now that SacTown has their aren they can rebuild. boog is a free agent at the end of 18, he aint coming back.. kings need to sell, and the celtics will give them a ton of young talent & picks... boog would help them become contenders. In the east he'd be more of an animal than he already is.

all this is predicated on the kings being terrible at the break, which I'm sure they will be.

Boog is very high on my list. He makes them the likely #2 in the East and makes Thomas a more viable threat. Dont know of I give up both lotto's for him. But looking at there roster, they dont have incredibly attractive trading chips outside of Brown and maybe Bradley. Crowder and Smart are nice players but they arent blowing anyone away at the negotiating table. Id take Cousins for Brown, the Nets 2018, and one of our own first round picks.

Im not sure if the Celtics can trade the Nets pick for 2017 as they dont own it outright, but own the rights to swap
