Injured? No concerns.
Just a few workouts highlight Wednesday’s pro-day schedule as a number of players hope to improve on their combine performances. We start with the results from the Central Michigan pro-day, which had an early start, as well as some breaking news on Demaryius Thomas.
Central Michigan
Receiver Antonio Brown, who clocked 4.57 seconds in the 40 during the combine, improved his time to 4.49 seconds and caught the ball well during drills.
Bryan Anderson, one of out biggest sleepers at the receiver position, measured 6-feet, 5-inches and 212-pounds then ran 40 times of 4.50 and 4.58. His marks of 37 inches in the vertical jump, 4.06 in the short shuttle and 6.81 seconds in the three cone also stood out. Like his teammate, Anderson also looked very good catching the ball.
Opinions are mixed on the throwing workout of quarterback Dan LeFevour. His short and intermediate passes were solid but LeFevour struggled throwing the ball downfield. Receivers were slowing up in their routes to catch the ball and in some instances out-running LeFevour’s deep passes altogether. One of the participants told us LeFevour had been throwing the ball well in the practices leading up to the pro-day workout and may have been a little to pumped up once the lights went on for pro-day.
Notes:
During Georgia Tech’s pro-day, we noted receiver Demaryius Thomas was seen easily moving around on his left foot which was surgically repaired at the end of February. Sources told us yesterday the rehabilitation is going well and there’s a very good chance Thomas will workout for scouts before April’s draft. There’s been no definitive date as to when the workout will take place nor what Thomas would exactly do during the workout. We expect the decision to be made in the coming weeks.
As we reported yesterday several coaches and NFL decision makers who wanted to attend yesterday’s pro-day at Mississippi were unable to as they were taking part in the owners meetings in Orlando, Florida. We received further word this morning Jevan Snead is likely to hold another pro-day workout to accommodate those who were not in attendance yesterday.
