"Bama can't afford Cignetti. Bama is basically a broke boy.
KDB had offers elsewhere and Bama faithful were defending him tooth and nail because the actual knowledgeable Bama fans know they likely can't get a more coveted coach"

That is entirely your opinion and regurgitated rumors. There are zero facts here. It doesn't appear you know much at all about Alabama football. KB was never the first choice. Fans had never heard of him prior to his national title game appearence. He was the best they could do on short notice and he wanted the job. The only thing he turned down that is verifiable is a contract extension at Washington.
Bama can't afford Cignetti --Show me how Bama can afford to get Cignetti and I will gladly apologize.
Bama is basically a broke boy. --Saying something "is basically" and tongue in cheek is hardly lying or being inaccurate. It was clearly a poke at you though so feel free to consider it withdrawn.

KDB had offers elsewhere and Bama faithful were defending him tooth and nail because the actual knowledgeable Bama fans know they likely can't get a more coveted coach--
I can link you 30 takes saying exactly this from twitter in the next 10 minutes if you really want me to prove that. I was arguing with them so it won't take long, I promise.
I even told them their tune would change as soon as that 4th loss hit.

So yes Alabama is not actually a broke boy. That was hyperbole and I openly apologize if you took it literally.

The rest is however dead on fact.

If they are one of the 5 top rated conferecne champions, then yes, they should be.
That is the rule.
It is 5 best conf champs in THEN 7 at large.
Pretty simple to follow actually.
top rated by a corrupt committee but then that is fine with you obviously

And for all that's holy schedule better teams.
ND scheduled two teams that did make it to the Playoffs and lost one by 1 point and the other by 3
Now outside of the ridiculous SEC incest, how many did Indiana face before the playoffs? Oregon and OSU and beat them but they only had two
How many did OSU face?
Lets go down the line and investigate I doubt you will find two many did face more than two
Who did Texas Tech face?

That's not why they chose them. The playoff parameters obviously include some division winners. I do not know exactly what they are, but they were chosen knowing that UT/ND/BYU were all better teams. That's a fan thing that they must choose the best teams.
a fan thing that they must choose the best teams
Did you read the mandate of the committee?

Oh, the guys that cover Bama football for a living know less you? lol

Cignetti's contract...... his buyout goes to zero until they give him a top 3 contract.
LOL. That provision requires them to meet within 120 days after Indiana's last game.
And the raise to meet the provision is only 1M per year. Hardly even a talking point.
Homers that cover teams selling copium are not serious people.
This was John Carzano selling Pac 12 copium 2 years ago swearing zero teams would leave. Then 6 did within a month.

Just so we are clear to get Cignetti, Bama would have to pay 60M to KDB and trigger an immediate 10-day portal window for the entire team; pay CC at least the 12.5 Indiana APY was required by provision to pay him, AND either wait 130 more days or pay the 15m buyout to Indiana. --Those people you are listening to are not serious people. They are paid to entertain you, not give you actual information.

I thought Alabama was loaded? Could spend as much on the football program as they wanted to

Texas Tech had 3 top 20 wins. BYU x2 by 20+ and Utah by 20+.

Notre Dame had 0 top 20 wins.
Thank you for asking.

They were "state-sponsored and had car dealership money". --quote from the NY Times.

But they do not have actual massive NIL.
It is reportedly 5th or 6th in the SEC

As of 2025, Alabama's NIL money is estimated to be less than $20 million, while other teams like Ohio State have spent around $20 million on their rosters. The total NIL spending by Alabama is not specified, but it is noted to be significantly lower compared to other programs.

“Like the first year (2021), we had name, image and likeness four, five years ago, we had $3 million. And everybody was happy," Saban said. "The next year it was $7 (million). The next year it’s $10 (million). And then this year it’s $13 (million). Now we’re looking at $20 (million). Where does it end?”

I did not say play top 20
I said played those that qualified for the playoffs
our schedule was stronger than several that made the playoffs
pathetic deflection

a fan thing that they must choose the best teams
Did you read the mandate of the committee?
You are really slow on this point.
The committee doesn't choose champions they simply seed the 5th highest ranked champions because that is mandated by rule.
THEN they pick the 7 best at large teams which has a mandate of selecting the very best teams available.

In order to get a 12-team playoff they needed votes and the G6 were not accepting any deal that denied a slot to the best G5/6 champion.
Since the day a CFP 12 team playoff existed that mandate was the very reason it existed.

I do not think Notre Dame was a top 10 team; but I know they did not prove they were.

always heard how Alabama had scads of money

read the mandate
and your claim they were not a top ten team when you had Alabama there is pathetic

Did you read the mandate of the committee?
Since TU and JMU were put into the playoffs, it doesn't matter what the mandate says, they obviously did not even try to choose the best teams. How many teams deep would you have to go into the Big Ten or SEC to find a team they could beat?

No sir, this was not done w/ the intent of picking the best teams. Absolutely not.

Then they ignored the mandate.

I'm an admitted casual NCAAF fan, so I'm sort of on the outside looking in. Sort of a Longhorn fan, but not rabid by any stretch of the imagination.

You have no point. Haven't on this tiopic in a month.
Nothing is changing. Notre Dame didn't beat anyone that was any good. Period.
Notre Dame's best win a 5 loss USC team at home.
And the wins get drastically worse after that.

Had you split the Miami/TAMU games you would have gotten in. You did not do that. You deserve nothing but the jokes which won't stop coming because you can't accept that reality.

Saban started the first arms race. He hired the best coaches and had the best facilities built.
Again, that was state of Alabama money though footing most of that.
And he definitely had car dealers pouring cash into duffle bags at 100K per shot.

But that wasn't this high-end NIL.
Alabama cannot compete this year with Miami, tOSU, Georgia UT, Tech. LSU, Indiana, Oregon in the portal.
They aren't even trying TBH.

I can accept being left out except for the three teams let in'
JMU
Tulane
ALabama

you are the one defending them
