wow the dynasty really is collapsing!

I can accept being left out except for the three teams let in'
JMU
Tulane
ALabama

you are the one defending them
Tulane and JMU made it in by rule.
Nothing to defend there. It was the rule and they got in.
Duke starting non-conf winless and Miami losing to bad ACC teams made the possible.

Alabama should not hjve been in at all.

But BYU has ther best argument of any team left out.
Only 1 loss regular season and was the team absurdly left out last year.

Notre Dame was in the running for sure but on the outside looking in once Miami lost a second game, TAMU lost to UT all while USC and Pitt fell apart. your SOS fell a lot.

Notre Dame has to consider itself like an ACC/Big 12 team. With the current schedules those schools are very lucky to get in with 2 losses and can only guarantee access by winning a conference,

LOL. That provision requires them to meet within 120 days after Indiana's last game.
And the raise to meet the provision is only 1M per year. Hardly even a talking point.
Homers that cover teams selling copium are not serious people.
This was John Carzano selling Pac 12 copium 2 years ago swearing zero teams would leave. Then 6 did within a month.

Just so we are clear to get Cignetti, Bama would have to pay 60M to KDB and trigger an immediate 10-day portal window for the entire team; pay CC at least the 12.5 Indiana APY was required by provision to pay him, AND either wait 130 more days or pay the 15m buyout to Indiana. --Those people you are listening to are not serious people. They are paid to entertain you, not give you actual information.
Yeah, all of this contract information is publicly available. I looked it up too. It all just depends on how you want to read the tea leaves.

We just saw LSU eat a 54M buyout so anything can happen. KD has an 8 year contract and Bama can pay that buyout out over the remaining lifetime of the contract. Has it occurred to you that Cignetti may prefer to be Alabama's savior than the king of football at a basketball school? He's got a say in this and ALL the leverage in the next contract negotiation. He can do whatever he wants. His 15M buyout is nothing if Bama wants him.

Is this likely? Of course not. Like you I read , listen, and form my own opinions. There isn't a single "serious person" linking Cignetti to Alabama at the moment. lol

This surprised me a lot
always heard how Alabama had scads of money
NIL figures are guestimates. Schools do not have to report them. All it takes is one booster writing a check to "get their guy" and thats probably the case at 10-15 of the top programs. As in the NFL, it comes down to the players you choose to pay and how good the coaches are at getting them ready. There isn't one way to do. We just saw IU put together a class of no-name transfers and 3 star recruits. You don't have to be the richest dog to win or Texas would still be in the hunt instead of 5th in the SEC.

That's not why they chose them. The playoff parameters obviously include some division winners. I do not know exactly what they are, but they were chosen knowing that UT/ND/BYU were all better teams. That's a fan thing that they must choose the best teams.
If you are referring to JMU and Tulane...they were automatic bids, not selected over anyone else.

AUTOMATIC BIDS based on the rules that the 5 highest-ranking conference champions get in no matter what.

Not at large bids where the committee has a choice.
There was no choice.

The rules this year. I'm sure we are about to see change again as both small schools got slaughtered. If they want a cinderella team, they need to expand the playoff or limit the embarrassment to one team.

Well, that's what I thought, but someone was sort of arguing against it.

Pretty sure they're already planning on 16 next season.

Players love Kiffin. That's how he built a program at Ole Miss from dirt. But, the other side of the love coin is hate. I'm sure most of the players felt betrayed. Coach's understand its a business. College players are young and full of emotion. Slights cut deeper. They bought into his program and he left them high and dry right before the playoff. The fact nobody may follow him from Ole Miss to LSU isn't surprising.

Alabama lost what 38-3 my dude. Indiana got blasted last year.
The score stuff is braindead.

If the best G5 is not worthy simply schedule them and beat them.

my man you have your head in the sand.
LSU has money to make those moves.
They also had the number 1 portal class LAST year.
Bama does NOT have LSU money.

And we are about to see if LSU money was even a smart move.
They haven't exactly been cooking in the portal yet and have acquired a ton fewer Ole Miss players than expected.
Kiffin was an overpay but Kelly retired on the job and got his payout after a brief legal drama.
LSU fought him for a reason.
That buy out money is better spent on the roster.

Actual Bama insiders understand their finances and thus were in on KDB staying when he had a chance to go to Michigan because they get the financial realities.

Bama does not have the big-time boosters that some others do.

LSU is about to pay Sam Leavitt 7M.
Bama isn't touching anyone at even half that cost.
If Ty portals as predicted they are going to let Keelon start at QB. --reportedly making 1.5M.

Hugh Freeze won 7,8,9,10 games in a 4-year run at Ole Miss.
Matt Luke failed miserably but Kiffin was 1 coach removed from a good Ole Miss team.
He came in and won 5 games year 1 then went on a run with a lot of portal kids after bemoaning he needed TAMU level resources.
They offered every DFW HS star a lot of money to go play at Ole Miss. And a decent number did.

You overrate Lane almost as much as he overrates himself.

That just proves my point. He inherited a 5 win talent base (which is historically where Ole Miss has been aside from the Hugh Freeze "glory days"), and they are now in a national semi-final. Huge improvement in the talent base. What Hugh did didn't help Kiffin at all.

I guess LSU overrated him too and they don't know nothing compared to you. lol

Same thing is happening. I've heard argument after argument about how 4 is enough, 8 is enough, 12 is enough. Until their team is left out, then it's not. Now it needs to be 16 since ND/UT/BYU/Whomever was left out.

ROFL Did LSU overrate Brian Kelly?
