ESPN has a live chat at the senior bowl practices. Right now they are talking to Chad Johnson (Florida reciever) and he was asked what is his favorite team and he said the cowboys. They also asked him if he would like to play for the cowboys and he said, "Bill. YES!!" What is everyones thoughts on Jackson. I never watched Florida much so I haven't seen him play, but I like guys that are dallas fans before they are picked. Like Roy was that year we picked him. I just wanted to get everyones thoughts on him.

If you play WR at Florida, at the very least you are FAST and that is exactly what we need.....he has good size also!

I haven't watched him much. Supposedly, he has good hands and does a great job of keeping the chains moving. From what I read, it sounded like he didn't have great top end speed though.

Chad is one of the top wide receivers in the country. He’s the best wide receiver we’ve had in this state since (former Cleveland Brown tight end) Ozzie Newsome. He’s a big receiver that runs fast. He’s an impact player. -Coach Rush Propst

this was his senior high school report.....

How many FL WR's pan out in the NFL? From what I have heard, unless I am thinking of someone else, he should have stayed another year.

I don't know. This is a pretty think draft at WR and right now, he's probably the 2nd or 3rd rated guy on the board at the position. Next year, this draft is much deeper at WR. He may be making the right decision here.

if we go after him, could he be attained in the second round, or would we have to sacrifice a first-rounder?

Chad Jackson 6'2 - 205

Chad Jackson became Chris Leak's favorite target in 2005 as evidenced by his 90 receptions. In fact, Jackson only had two games all season where he was held in check -- back to back games against LSU and Georgia, where he had a combined 8 catches for 50 yards and 0 TDs. Jackson has outstanding speed and is a great deep ball threat as shown his sophomore year when he averaged more than 22 yards a catch. In 2005 he became more of a possession receiver, but still had an 80-yard TD grab and managed to find the endzone 9 times through the air (he added another 2 TDs on 16 carries).

Jackson also impressed me this season with his power and strength. He's not an easy player to tackle and with so many corners proving to be inept at the art of tackling, Jackson can pick up extra yards breaking arm tackles. Jackson will need to improve his focus as he will frequently drop the easy balls if he hears footsteps or is looking to make a play before securing the ball.

Jackson declared early for the 2006 NFL Draft after requesting a grade from the NFL Advisory Committee. He said he'd go back to school unless he learned that he was expected to be a first or second round pick, and that, apparently, is what he heard. In a shaky WR class, Jackson will likely hear his name called in the middle to the end of the second round.

I think the answer to this question is contingent upon how he works out at the combine. I don't see him as a 1st round talent but if he goes and runs a 4.3 and starts catching everything, all that could change.

Darrell Jackson on the Seahawks, used to play for Florida. So not all WR are busts.

He reminds me alot of Jackson( Darrell) but not as good a college career.

Good speed 4.45 range good size 6'2" 200.

He made the right call in coming out because this WR class is so thin. His biggest problem is that he does everything "pretty well", nothing stands out. Not exceptionally big, quick, fast or with great hands.

I'm sure I'm overstating this a great deal but I'll tell you who he reminds me of. He reminds me a little bit of Aquan Boldin. Maybe not as big or physical but the same kind of profile. Does a lot of things well, nothing exceptionally. Will be interesting to see how he works out.

thanks for the help. I just like guys who are cowboy fans. Me personally... I would take less to stay with Dallas when my initial contract was up because I love the team. SO I think that may help us to keep players longer if they grew up diehard cowboy fans. One reason why I think Roy will retire a cowboy no matter what.

hate to burst your bubble, but Roy was not a 'Boys fan...his dad was. Roy referred to Staubach as 'Jim Starbuck' when he first became a Cowboy.
Does that sound like a Cowboy fan to you?

Willie Jackson and Darrell Jackson are about the only receivers that panned out from Florida. Maybe the last name Jackson is the trick?

With Spurrier gone though, the Florida receivers don't have the overinflated numbers of the fun-n-gun anymore.

Well, cross him off the list then, we seem to prefer guys who fail at other sports first. :(
