Chad Johnson plans to be "BIG THORN" in Bengals side

Chad Johnson plans to attend the Bengals' mandatory mid-June minicamp but won't "do anything" on the practice field, according to Profootballtalk.com.

It's the same strategy employed by Terrell Owens in Eagles training camp three years ago. T.O.'s goal was to cause so much conflict that the team would have to cut or trade him. We can't imagine agent Drew Rosenhaus encouraging Johnson to pursue a similar approach, as it ultimately cost his client four game checks. It's worth noting Chad hasn't said a word publicly since before the draft. There is speculation that he hopes the Bengals "forgot" his trade demands and how he threw the organization under the bus.

Beat writer Chuck Ludwig believes the Bengals will let T.J. Houshmandzadeh walk after the season.

Ludwig's predictions have been off recently, so we'd take this with a grain of salt. While Housh may not be a true "No. 1" receiver, he's Cincinnati's best red-zone target and the ultimate team player. It seems doubtful that the Bengals would let Housh get away when they can franchise tag him.

And yet, his client got paid after being released by the Eagles and was eventually signed by the Cowboys. In other words, his strategy worked, so why wouldn't Rosenhaus hope and support the same outcome?

What are they snorting over at PFT? Mass amnesia couldn't erase this offseason's Chad Johnson soap opera. "Speculation"? By whom? People exiting from 10-year comas???

I don't know how a guy that racks up over 100 catches last season can't be considered a true number 1. While it is true that he had CJ beside him, TJs numbers keep getting better and better every year, moving past CJ in terms of number of receptions. And those numbers for the last few years are in the 80-90 range, If he wasn't a number 1 receiver, he'd be catching around 60 balls a game.

With players left to sign, TO, Canty, Columbo, etc., I really don't see anyway we can afford to splash with big name WR's like Williams, Johnson, or who'syermama. Maybe if wee have no cap next year, but that isn't supposed to be a possibility until 2010, is it?

We haven't even signed our two first round picks. Cap space is getting too tight to be thinking these names.

Agreed on the cap space...I am a little worried that a couple years from now (assuming a new salary cap is in place) we could already have gotten our selves into some trouble with the big signings over the past year.

As for Chad Johnson we do not need nor should we want another cry baby on this team...Greg Ellis would be so pissed if he thought some body was brought in to take that position too....

LOL!

"Jerruh, I need more money because Chad is getting all my press time!" "No one will listen to my issues anymore!"

Precisely the reason all this Jason Taylor talk is nothing but a pipe dream....

Carry on.

If a good #2 WR becomes available this season, you can bet the Cowboys will find cap room to sign him.

I highly doubt we'll be seeing TJ or Roy Williams in Dallas unless Jerry lets TO walk at the end of the year.

I expect Chad Johnson to slink back to the Bengals, tail firmly tucked between his legs.

I've never seen any courage or conviction out of him and I don't expect to now.

When you can go back on your word regarding those contests he's getting sued over, your word doesn't mean much.

I expect some type of spin out of him when he comes crawling back.

Probably correct - he did this exact same thing last year.
