What do you guys think of Chad as back up, just an idea (maybe a bad one) but just an idea? :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin

Chad's a good guy and a team player, but he's a health risk and is not an upgrade from Brad Johnson. I do not see a trade happening or him being picked up by Dallas. Minnesota might be interested.

Pennington has less arm strength than Johnson does. Again, he changes nothing and would be useless in our scheme.

Id take Pennington but I think he will end up in Miami or KC.

Exactly. He can't throw it more than 30 yards with the wind at his back.

He is going to wind up in Minny playing in that West Coast offense.

He'd be a servicable backup but I doubt he wants to go to the team where there's a "Romo". I'm sure he wants some chance to compete for play.

i think he would be a great backup and i definately think he has more arm strength than johnson.. sign him up!!!

A bback up

Yoikes!!

I would take him in a second over Johnson.

He is a solid qb who is smart. He would be a great backup, fits the mold perfectly. There is a reason why backup qbs are called backups....

Yes, because they know how to prepare for a game with limited snaps in practice. Brad Johnson knows how to do that. He has done so for a good portion of his career and already knows the offensive system in Dallas. Pennington does not. He has mostly been a starter or injured. He rarely has been a true back up. It is a different mind set.

The only advantage Pennington would have over Johnson is age but Pennington never had a strong arm and with all the surgeries he's had on his shoulder his arm is weaker than Johnson's. So we be replacing a qb who knows our system with one that doesn't and has never been a holder on kicks just to get a couple of years younger.

No thanks

Pennington is a better and younger QB than Johnson at this point. Watch Johnson in a few preseason games and then think about that opinion again.

I think Pennington is a better option than Johnson, but I would rather have Chris Simms.

You obviously haven't seen Pennington lately. He has 0 zip on the ball and can't throw it more than 20 yards.

Pennington isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the time it would take to get him ready.

Pass.

I prefer him over Simms, but I'll admit it would not excite me.

He ought to go straight to the Bears.
