Chad Reuter expects LB Shemar James to be a starter

Eberflus wanted him bad according to a nugget.......maybe he sees a potential starting MBLer
He’s 10 lbs lighter than Kendrick and could easily add those 10 lbs in a nflpa off season. Kendrick has been a very good LB for years. I’m not so worried about he’s weight. Instinct is most important trait for a LB

I don't know much about this prospect, but Gators fans essentially universally loved him from what I can tell.

Demarcus Lawrence as a rookie was pretty similar size.
6 ft 2+7⁄8 in
(1.90 m)
251 lb
(114 kg)
33+3⁄4 in
(0.86 m)
11 in
(0.28 m)
4.80 s1.68 s2.80 s4.31 s7.46 s34+1⁄2 in
(0.88 m)
9 ft 5 in
(2.87 m)
20 reps
Donovan EZ is more explosive than Demarcus Lawrence but has smaller hands. Productivity is comparable but Donovan was better, especially in the sack department.

It's going to be interesting to see how they use the RBs this season.

Obviously, that will depend on their early performances. Not as obvious, durability is required for the larger share of carries.

When you trade up for a guy, he better be on the field early, or it's viewed bad.
So much ruing over a 5th round pick. No, he doesnt have to see the field. Except special teams, which he will. If he does, great.

I do like the pick. 1.56 10 yard split is pretty good. On the smallish size though. But hey, at least Jethro can say he addressed one of the team needs.

Not sweating him. I'm just saying, when you trade up for a guy, you REALLY like him, so logic says, in some capacity, that guy needs to get his feet wet, even if its just on the punt team or ST. I am not expecting him to start for a long time, if ever. That's ok, he was worth a risk.

I like the pick too. Don't mind the risk on a guy with traits.

He's got the complete tool bag , and can bend. I like his awareness too. Smart player. High FB IQ

Also, he's only 20 years old. Likely not finished growing...that's why they traded up to get him. His best years are ahead of him.

Big reason why the scouts wanted him..

DLaw is nothing like this kid. I agree. Donovan will be better. But this kids game is much more as a bendy edge guy, sack artist that has a lot of tools in the tool bag. Hes a game wrecker. If anything, he's more like Ware or a guy we had here in the 90s, Tony Tolbert, but more bendy.
He can play the run too. His TFL was off the charts. Those are like sacks...

Day 3 is a C+. Grade.

Notable busts-
James- a lb that wasn't good in college but looks athletic in the gym. He is terrible against the run, ok vs the pass...where they needed a big MLB, they draft a pass princess..

Both DT- no confidence Jerry allows them the time needed to develop. They don't have the quick step he looks for in a defensive lineman.

Blue- his best asset is catching out of the backfield but a small catch radius. This is a weakness of Dak. He's also got to correct his fumble issues.
Nice sum up.

I think we’ve done a good job drafting LB. In today’s game they have to cover recievers. The days of the big thumper in the middle is over. Too much time in coverage for a 240 guy
