Champions Eventually?

Hi everybody.

Over the past few seasons this team has had many ups and downs... There were times when I cursed Romo for being a choker, or for being too careless with the ball... There were times when I cursed the defense for constantly letting teams convert on 3rd and long, or on their last drive of the game... Then there were times I thought we looked like world-beaters, but all in all, I didn't have much faith in this group ever reaching the top...

Then there was last season... We saw this thing turn a corner... TO was thankfully gone and a young stud stepped up to surpass what we could've expected from TO... Anthony Spencer looks ready to play the role of Robin... Mike Jenkins became a probowler and deservedly so...Most important of all, Romo showed that he can be more than a "gunslinger", after that Giants game in week 2, he was obviously determined not to let it be that kind of a season...And the team got many monkeys off their backs... In 2008, the season ends in an embarrassing loss to the Eagles... In 2009, we embarrass the Eagles, taking the division and home-field in a postseason rematch... Then just when we have the chance to fail in the playoffs, like we did in 2007 against the Giants, we come out and dominate the Eagles again... Then we were dominated ourselves by the Vikes... However, let there be little doubt (at least in my mind), that a corner was turned...

As I've digested all these things over the past 7 months, I had an epiphany, I believe in this team, and in the core group of guys (Ware, Romo, Witten, Austin, Bryant, Jenkins, Newman, Felix)... I no longer view this as a matter of if these guys can win a SuperBowl, the only question is when...

I'm not as sold on the head-coach, or the OC... And I do think it's possible that we may appear to take a step back this season, but I wouldn't view it as such, for this hard-headed team, it's just another lesson learned... Every team that wins a championship takes a different path to get there, and Dallas' path will have been long and full of heartache on the way... But make no mistake about it, we will get there! Romo, Ware, and Witten will all be in the HOF, maybe Dez too...

I don't think this is our year, but I just have a feeling about 2011...

What I really want to know is how you all feel about this team, how many share in my belief that it's only a matter of time before Romo and company are hoisting a Lombardi?

"Anthony Spencer looks ready to play the role of Robin." I like that.

I have a feeling about 2010. 2011 gives me a 'lockout' vibe.

If Felix gets his 20 touches and they put Dez in the slot...CHAMPIONSHIP!

Dude, what's it matter? The offensive line won't open any lanes for Felix, and the offensive line won't give enough time for Romo to find Dez.

Can we at least wait until Kosier and Colombo come back before we throw the OL under the bus?

Thanks.

We have yet to see what Bryant will do on the field, but our running backs are all veterans.

What is your opinion of their final 2010 regular season rushing statistics?

I don't know. It's such a hard thing to project right now because our offensive line is playing below average. I mean, this is bad.

If our offensive line wasn't playing so bad, I'd say Marion would crack 1,000 yards, Felix would get 500, and Choice would get 300. Barber would have probably 10 touchdowns, Felix with 3, and Choice with 4. Barber would have the lowest yards per carry, while Felix and Choice would have the highest.

I think they are on the cusp, but mainly they need to put a quality offensive line in front of Romo. I've never seen so many excuses made for such mediocre to bad players. All of the starters sans Doug Free need to be taken out to pasture (Kosier, Davis, Gurode and Colombo). That's probably an unpopular thing to say, but that group of guys have proven they simply can't or won't get it done and they're only declining further.

And I take it, these are your expectations based on healthy seasons played by all three running backs?

Yes, and I don't think it's unreasonable because we've also got to carve that ball up for our passing game.

I think we'll have about the same rushing stats as last year, but Barber will crack 1,000 yards because he'll be healthier. That's what I think. What do you think?

Flo was definitely declining and I think Barber is too.

Having those two out of the starting lineup will help overall IMO.

Unfortunately, the coaches still think Barber should get more touches instead of Jones.

I've read Adams was really struggling with the Steelers and in danger of being cut. I know for sure they rotated him out when they used their first team in their last game.

As befitting the inconsistancy of this team for god knows how long, I wouldn't be surprised to win the superbowl and I wouldn't be surprised to miss the playoffs this year.

As far as "eventually", sure anything is possible but I don't really see the roadmap to getting there right now.
