In every professional sport a team must go through tough times and growing pains to get to the level of excellence that is their goal. There has never been a team in sports history to win a championship that didn't have to overcome some sort of injury. The teams that make it to the top are uusually the most healthy, but never fully healthy as an entire team. Flos injury will be a test/measure of how good we really are as a team. If his injury is the deciding factor for us not winning a Sb, then we weren't as good as we thought in the first place.
Look at the past champions and what they went through to win it all and I'll bet you that they had injuries that hindered some part of their team game. Bledsoe goes down, but Brady picks them up. Green goes down, but Warner doesn't miss a beat. To goes down, but they still get it done in Philly. Tucker may or may not be the answer to get us over the top, but if are to win the division it will get down from within. Others will have to step up (you listening LA).
Not many people expected us to be here at 4-2 and in first place, but we are. And we have done this without key players already. No Jacob Rogers, Petitti steps up. No Dat, Shanle does fine. No JJ, Rb by commitee. The silver lining in this all is the fact that our defense is starting to gel and they are looking quite scary to be honest. We are relatively healthy on that side of the ball and just one man down in the O side of the ball. This one thing I do know, the team holding the trophy at the end of the year will do it with one of their key players out or not at full speed.
We have to overcome this and I think we will. Our schedule has made us hard as a unit and mentally tough. That in it self will get us by in a couple of games, but the fact that we are much more talented than last will get us at least in the playoffs. This team is good, how good will be shown in the next 2-3 weeks. Take this into account as well, this is the first time I can remember we have had a bye week in the middle of the season. What better time to have 2 weeks off and get healthy for the stretch run than mid-season. This is a blessing in the fact that we can get healthy again and our LT gets an extra week to get on board in just 2 weeks.
