It was a very good game. SA had their chances to blow it out, but Portland kept fighting and fighting and took it down to the end. Everytime SA got a 10-12 pt lead, Portland would close to within 3 or 4. It was a great way to start off the season. A nice tough game at home to get their heads on straight.

Portland has some nice young players. If they had Oden to be that rock down low, mainly defensively, this team would be a tough draw night in and night out. I am not sure if they will win a lot of games, but I will say this, they will definitely make their opponent on any given night work for the W.

1 step closer to 5.........

I missed the beginning... did Oberto start? Bonner was in there by the time I tuned in in the first quarter.

Also, I didn't see Udoka in there at all. Did he play?

Joel Pryzbilla is absolutely horrible on defense. He was the Spurs MVP tonight.

Oberto, Duncan, Bowen, Finley, Parker all started

Udoka did not play....I was disappointed.

The announcers were horrible. They spent more time discussing the Lakers/Rockets game than announcing the Spurs game. Also, when Mahinmi came in at the end of the game, those fools said it was his first NBA appearance....but they failed to notice that he came in during the final minute of the first half.

I feel Pryzbilla played well for the Blazers. He got some blocks, rebounds, made some baskets, and actually made his FTs. Webster and Aldridge were out of their minds tonight. Roy had a very rough night thanks to the 2007-08 DPOY, BRUCE BOWEN.

I know it's only one game, and he's still raw, but based on that and all of last season, how does a guy as big as Aldridge only pick up 3 rebounds? Eddy Curry II (20 ppg, but only 5 reb)?

Yeah, I don't know what the deal was. Aldridge didn't even seem to care about the rebounds. There were multiple occasions where Aldridge would just assume Pryzbilla would get the rebound (lol).

And Pryzbillia looked decent at times, but for every good thing he did, he'd drop a ball or let Ginobli or Matt Bonner (!) get an offensive rebound in traffic.

Do you think we can get one long official NBA season topic instead of all these different small threads?

Sure, but even Elson and Oberto was schooling Pryzbilla at times.

Pryzbilla may have gotten double digit rebounds on the stat sheet, but he was giving up offensive rebounds too. To be fair, LMA didn't seem to try in the rebounding either.

well i know why aldridge didnt get any offensive rebounds, he was playing along the perimeter and doing well.

as far as the defensive rebounds, i dont know. he did have to cover Duncan, and so i can see why his focus was less on rebounding and more on trying to keep Duncan in check.
