Chances of Thomas

Hey I don't really keep track of the draft but I keep hearing bout Earl Thomas Im interested to our chances of him available at 27

I think it's less likely to get him than Dez Bryant and I think the chances of getting Dez Bryant are absolute zero unless we trade up at least around 12 spots, though likely need to trade up more than that.

Thomas IMO is gone in the top 10 easy, and Dez very well could too. No way I think Dez is still on the table after 14. (Seattle, and mostly at 11 to Denver)

He ran a 4.37 at his Pro Day. I think the chances of him falling to us have got up and left.

I don't think we have a chance.

I can't help but wish we'd go get him if the opportunity presents itself.

I think our needs don't mesh up well at all with our position in this draft, unfortunately.

That's new..... I've never seen anyone place him in the top 10 so easily. I've never seen anyone put him in the top 10. We've got a better shot of landing Dez than Thomas where we sit. We have almost no shot @ Thomas @ 27, but if we were to move somewhere around 15-20 we could probably snag him.

He's rising in the amatuer mocks at least. I saw him going to Jacksonville (10th) in at least 4 mocks today.

Jacksonville took Reggie Nelson in the first a few years back.

Would they take another safety high?

I hear their top need (still) is a pass rushing DE, but that Saftey is next up, and then ILB (McClain maybe?). They could also use a center and a guard. You can never have enough CBs, so Haden is always a possibility. They are set at OT. I could see them trying to trade down.

They claim to like Luke McCown at as prospect, but if not, I can't help thinking that at some point they need to bring in a young guy to groom behind Garrard....but that would not be in 1st round (though Clausen would seem slightly possible)

Zero chance Earl Thomas is there at 27.

I keep hoping we'll move up to get him, but even thats pretty unrealistic now. We'd probably have to get to the 12-15 area to get him. Honestly I wont be surprised if he goes a little earlier than that though.

It would require us to have a trading partner who wants a veteran player or two to move up into the top 15 at least. Even then I'd say the chances are remote.

So you're saying there is a chance?!?!?

I hope we trade up for him--we don't need volume in this draft, we need a few quality players

It's going to take some ammo, especially if a team knows you want him so bad. And although I love the kid, there's still a chance he doesn't perform as well in the pros.

Sure there's a chance. Someone unexpected always falls, especially with teams that have average safety play already and other, more important, needs to fill. Is it likely? No. But there's a chance.
