Chances that we actually pick at 27?

Am I the only one that just can't see us picking at 27 anymore. Between Gurley and Gordon likely being picked by the Ravens at 26 at the latest, and Johnson also likely going in the early 20s it seems like the 3 best fits for us will be gone. Malcom Brown might make sense, but I just can't see the Cowboys going 1-tech in the first. There are a couple of CBs that might make sense... but they are all so close to each other and only Peters (who I absolutely want, and don't think our coaches do either) would really stand out among them, so we could likely get one at the beginning of the second pretty easily. Owa might also make sense... but I don't see us getting a DE in the first post Hardy... so yea. I think the most likely scenarios are we trade down/out of the first or we make a Dez Bryant type trade (3rd for 4th or 5th) and move up ahead of the teams that are likely to go after Gurley/Gordon. I don't think it is all that likely that we pick at 27, especially considering Jones' history, unless we just can't find a trading partner.

History confirms your belief that the Cowboys are not going to pick at 27.
My gut feeling says a small trade up for Gurley if he last in the late teens, early 20s

I've been saying for months it's only 50/50 we actually make a pick at 27. We likely don't have 27 players with a first round grade. One of those teams with a top 5 or 6 pick in the 2nd round makes a decent offer we take it IMO.

I really dont want to trade up for anybody in this draft but will trade down into the top of the 2nd rd if we get another 3rd rd pick.

Same here, but I think Gordon is more likely the pick as I see the Chargers taking Gurley at 17 but Gordon will likely last until the Lions/Cards at 23/24.

I am thinking it's closer to 25/75 that we pick at 27. I don't see the value there, and Jones loves to trade (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2013 all involved trades with our first pick, and I think we clearly wanted to trade last year but couldn't get the value we wanted).

I agree.................either we trade up 5 or 6 spots...............or we trade down 5 or 6 spots.................nothing too drastic.

Chances are slim if you look at past history. I was against any trade up, but I wouldn't mind it for Gurley and maybe Gordon.

They have traded out of their original spot in the 1st 80% of the time in the Jerry era; however, I think with Stephen and McClay more in charge and Jerry stepping back that it is somewhat less likely.

I think this is a perfect draft to trade back into the second and pick up an extra third.

I think the only way they trade up is if it's a Dez type situation where a top 12 player on their board falls to the 23-24 range and they can move up relatively cheaply (e.g. swapping later round picks).

A trade back is more likely as the list of players they have with a first round grade could be gone by 27.

Gordon falling to 23 is quite likely, and I think we would be likely to trade up for him if he did (probably will have to trade up one-two spots farther though). The only thing I worry about there is there might be a bidding war for Gordon between the 4 or so teams that all want him between 23 and 27 (Lions, Cards, Ravens, and Cowboys).

Nobody knows what the value is at 27 until the draft happening and they know what our board looks like.

If we trade up with Cleveland or cincy it would make a lot of sense. We only have to give up a 3rd and keep our 2nd .Gurley and Gordon won't get past Sd , Arz , car , Balt . We'll have to jump them. If Gurley gets passed on by San diego im certain the Cowboys will trade up.

Maybe as many as 50 people last year were 100% certain we'd trade up for Manziel if he got into reasonable trade range.

I agree.
Just saying, nobody knows what well do or we we have Gurley and Gordon on our draft board

I can't imagine they aren't high up considering they are elite prospects at positions of need. If Manziel was a position of need, we probably draft him for sure last year.
