Well, the NBA is now being questioned about their criminal gambling. Is anyone surprised?
When $$$$ is the MOST important to the majority of society.

Until the sports (including the NFL) stops rewarding losing.....

Leagues reward the teams, with the worst records, better draft positioning.

Proposal.....

The BEST team that does not make the playoffs should get the #1 pick for the upcoming draft. The the worst record will pick LAST but before the teams that did make the playoffs. You reward teams to continue to want to keep winning even if they are eliminated from the days. The teams making playoffs would pick after the worst NFL record and in the order it is currently in. Superbowl winners picking last

The issue with this, is it would water down the top portion of the draft.

QBs and pass rushers are all premium picks.

You think if the Lions, Eagles, Chiefs are going QB? You would see a lot of top tier talent either slide down drafts or go to a team and sit on the bench.

I see what you're going for but an unweighted lottery for non-playoff teams would do it better. One of the strengths of the NFL is the parity and the current draft setup is a strong contributor to that parity.

Unweighted lottery gives no benefit to more losing. You'll lose out on some parity but not as much as you would with the worst teams picking last.

Make the top 10 slots go to the top bids. Every team can submit a bid for each of their 1st round picks. The teams serious about winning will pony up the most and the teams just in it for making money will low ball.

I see absolutely 0 correlation between gambling and the draft order.

This would just result in perpetually bad teams…and gambling would still be happening

I have a better idea. Keep the draft the same and imprison the cheats until they rot.
Agreed. It ain’t that difficult. Just lock the cheats and scumbags up. Prosecute them to the full extent of the law and crack down hard.

Well they would no longer be premium picks, if the teams that needed QB's did not draft until the middle of the first round.
