Another long two weeks on the sea.
Lots of training and preparing. We are at halfway mark and its storm season coming. Spirits are high and although the team didn't play today - favorable currents are pushing them ahead of schedule.
One mate swore he saw an eagle today, wounded and flying ragged.
Falcon's had been chartered in these waters but never Eagles. The Captain muttered - thats a dead Eagle.
As ominous this journey seemed preseason. The ship and crew are in great shape.
February 5th? its going to be a challenge to get there. But on the map.
Another big win, a win that shed tears and an unlikely win. The Captain lost his brother and buried him yesterday. The crew was quite determined and intent on winning the battle for the captain they have grown to love.
They were in sea's that few had ever navigated or charted. A bad place that the ol Sailers of old dubbed "The Vet of Madness"
We had a chance to again keep ahead of schedule and it did not start off well. The enemy was ready, it was hostile water and for 57 consecutive minutes we were near death.
But Bledsoe took the offense and drove us to a quick TD. Culminating in a TD catch by the guy the mates affectionately called she.
It was then victory was in our grasp. But herto we usually fold in journeys of old. But a player rose high, made a play and wrested victory from the jaws of defeat. It was a defining moment in this journey on the big stage. Roy was the Man!
Destination - its still on the horizon and far off. But getting closer. There is excitement in the air as all sense that they are part of something big. The Captain cried today and shed a tear knowing he lost kin but also has a special team.
As stated in initial post - Wind is behind us and mother nature is still smiling down on us. Enjoy the journey and the destination will take care of itself.
On a side note - we pulled in a drowned bird, almost unheard of this far to sea. It was indeed an Eagle. Might add tastier than I thought......not bad with hot sauce.
