chargers and saints don't matter

our remaining schedule:

@ Giants
vs. Chargers
@ Saints
@ Commanders
vs. Eagles

i know everyone is looking at the saints game, and to a lesser extent the chargers game, to see what dallas is made of. and that's valid.

HOWEVER... if dallas wins out its remaining division games, and finishes 11-5, there's NO WAY anyone else can win the nfc east. in fact, if they ONLY beat the giants and the eagles, they may still win the division. that would put dallas at 10-6 and, while it may be too early to count anyone out, i don't see the giants or the eagles winning 5 more games this season.

don't get me wrong -- i want to see dallas win at san diego and at home against new orleans. but as for "must win" games, there are only two: ny and philly.

On one hand I hate to look at things this way (like a game doesn't matter), but largely I agree. The Giants and Eagles games are the must-haves. Of course, the Philly game clearly becomes much less important -- if unimportant all together -- if we were able to mix in a win against New Orleans and/or San Diego.

I'll take any wins in December to get to 11-5.

That would be Giants next week, Skins after, Philly to end the season. Best case scenario for that situation.

Personally, I still think we sweep December to go 13-3.

i dont see this team losing 2 weeks in a row.

so either a split against SD and NO or a sweep.

I hear ya.

It would be interesting if we saw both the Saints and Chargers twice this season ;)

Eagles game is the very last game of the season so how it can be a must win without knowing how the other 4 games have turned out is a silly notion. The Giants game is a must win. If we want to secure our spots as NFCE champs and possibly work towards home field advantage than that where it starts. The season starts now.

Does anyone know how Philly and Ny have fared against SD and NO? If I remember, I don't think its well.

Wow.

I'm an optimist, but wow, that's a tough order.

As I have stated before, history has shown us that going 4-2 in the division equals a division title.

Look at it this way, all we have to do is win our 2 home games and then win just 1 of our 3 remaining road games.

Thats it, just win at home and get 1 win out of 3 chances on the road and we are 11-5 Division Champs.:D

obviously, if dallas is 13-2 heading into the philly game, that one is not a "must win."

my point was that dallas can control its destiny in the division even if it loses all other games besides the nyg and eagles games. so, as much as people look at the saints game as an important game (and i agree that it is), a win against new orleans AND losses to the giants and eagles could still be a dangerous situation. whereas wins against the giants and eagles would mean more for the cowboys' playoffs hopes even if they lost to the saints.

The Giants game is a must win. If we want to secure our spots as NFCE champs and possibly work towards home field advantage then that where it starts. The season starts now.

agreed.

IMO, a home wild card game is the best we can hope for at this moment. Unless the Siants or Vikings collapse, but I don't think either team loses more than two games.

Beating the Saints would be great. I would love to see a Cowboys/Chargers SB. I've always liked the Chargers. Beating them in the SB would be nice.

Yeah. I thought for sure we would play them in SB29.

So make it happen now 'Boys!

Philly is always tough at the end so for me that's the Biggest "we have to win game" left this season...

I was sure we would play the Chargers in SBs 15, 16, & 17 (80, 81, & 82) but it didn't happen even though it came close all three times.
