3:23 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips got to know Philip Rivers early in his NFL career and saw the intangibles that have made Rivers an upper-echelon quarterback. "He was just going to grit it out and make plays," Phillips said. "Besides the talent, he has a great attitude. I'm not surprised he keeps getting better and better."

3:22 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, who used to be San Diego's defensive coordinator, seems impressed by what coordinator Ron Rivera is doing. "They're playing solid football. They're utilizing the talent. They've had some guys banged up, and they've had other guys come in and do a good job for them. I think they're doing a real good job."

3:20 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips describes his offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett, as a "Norv Turner disciple." Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera worked for Phillips and has high praise for him. Should be an interesting game of Xs and Os on Sunday in Dallas.

3:19 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips is an expert at defense. Chargers coach Norv Turner is an expert at offense. Sunday, the two will play chess against one another. "They keep you off balance," Phillips said. "You don't know what kind of formations they're going to run or motion or shift."

3:15 pm Cowboys QB Tony Romo is impressed by Philip Rivers' game management and stated goal of having fewer than 10 interceptions for a whole season. "He understands what it takes to win," Romo said. "He puts his team in a position to have a chance to win each Sunday, and that's what you need from your quarterback."

3:12 pm Cowboys QB Tony Romo noticed in film study that Chargers safeties are blitzing into the backfield at key times. "They do a good job of timing when to come up as far as the right timeframe of the game to send a safety, so we've got to be prepared."

2:40 pm Cowboys coach Wade Phillips on LaDainian Tomlinson: "I still think LT is the greatest."

2:27 pm Cowboys QB Tony Romo doesn't know Philip Rivers but likes what he hears from his Cowboys coaches. "Sounds like Philip's the kind of guy you root for."
