This sounds all to familiar to Cowboys fans.

The Dallas Cowboys made a gamble when they sent a fourth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for quarterback Trey Lance. It was seen as a worthwhile investment in a potential lottery ticket, but it didn't take long to come to the realization that Lance wouldn't pan out.

Lance signed a one-year pact with the Chargers this offseason following a two-year stint with the Cowboys. The former No. 3 overall pick is hoping to get his career off the ground, but he will have to prove himself under a hard-nosed head coach like Jim Harbaugh.

Unfortunately for Lance, his performance in offseason workouts has left something to be desired. The following quote from The Athletic's Daniel Popper will sound familiar to Cowboys fans.

All I came away with from the article is the Chargers QB3 position is trash because D.J. was terrible in college, and Lance has his struggles.

The article says that Lance threw 5 interceptions in his last game with Dallas. That is not true. He played the last game of the season and had 0 interceptions in that game.

Wow, bad throws in OTAs.Mini camp. RIP.

Not that I thought much of him, but just a waste to be high or low on players at this stage.
IIRC some coaches want players to play riskier now. But Lance may just suck.

...Dallas did give him a shot to prove himself. But that didn't go to well.

Life isnt fair, sometimes.

Not defending Lance at all, but I have no idea why he didn't get more than one start last season.

Once Dak got hurt the Cowboys suffered back to back blowout losses to the Texans and Eagles that dropped them to 3-7. The season was toast at that point. There was no reason to keep playing Rush when everyone already knew what he was.

Not saying Lance would have improved with more reps. Just saying that now we will never know if he would have.

It was obvious when the 49ers moved on from him after only two seasons he couldn’t play. They gave up the farm to draft him and were done with him. They were looking for a sucker to unload him on and found one. It was reminiscent of the third round pick we gave up for Drew Henson after Houston already realized he couldn’t play. He lasted only one season with the Cowboys.

All we ever hear with Lance is he hasn’t played enough football. He can’t play! His next stop will be the UFL.

Think the Rush over Lance thing was more of Big Mike fighting for his job.

Jerry was actually quoted as saying after watching Lance practice that he sees why the 49ers gave up three first round picks for him. Kyle Shanahan is lucky he still had a job after that mega mistake. Purdy saved his job.

It takes a real idiot to cough up a 4th round pick for a QB that couldn’t even win the backup job against another QB that was a bust.
