You mean it's possible to re-sign a guy even after he goes for a visit to another team?

I thought if you didn't re-sign a guy before the first day of FA, you forfeited the right to ever talk to him again. ;)

Chargers re-signed G Kris Dielman to a six-year contract.
An unexpected development; most believed San Diego wouldn't be able to keep its mauling guard without loads of cap space, so it's likely Dielman took substantially less money than he could've had on the open market. LaDainian Tomlinson (and Michael Turner) are certainly happy.

Whoops, sorry. I didn't see the other post. Please merge or delete.

Few coaches don't like the running game. Even Mike Martz.

Chargers prized free agent guard Kris Dielman agreed to terms on a new six-year contract Saturday that will keep him in San Diego through the 2012 season.

Dielman is expected to return to San Diego Saturday afternoon to sign the deal.

DIELMAN DETAILS

Scout.com reports that Chargers offensive lineman Kris Dielman will be paid $40 million over six years, with $18 million in guaranteed money.

Dielman will earn $24 million over the first three years of the contract.

We heard that Dielman's agent was claiming during the combine that he had a $7 million-per-year deal in hand. We later heard that the agent was inviting teams to get into the bidding at $7 million per year.

The final deal -- averaging $6.67 million -- shows that the goal wasn't reached.

Not that it's a bad deal, but it's not what either "The Skipper" Steinbach or Derrick Dockery got on Friday.

Maybe he gave SD a bit of a discount to remain in San Diego....

Hey we are talking about a guy that wasnt even drafted and when you are talking about millions of dollars a year then that little 300K is small potatos!

His agent did good to get his client to stay with his orginal team that went 14-2 and continue to block for the best runner in the league and average $300k less than the market and still get the same amount of guaranteed money. Deilman should be proud of his agent rather than listen to comments about coming short of his goal. He did what he was suppose to do in creating a buzz about his client and what their expectations were.

Funny thing about this deal is on the other post about what Davis is asking then look at what the rest of these guys are getting then you understand why Davis is not crazy but sensible is asking for market value.

I really doubt his agent wanted to take that deal. Dielman must have decided he wanted to stay in SD.

Or maybe the GMs were so shocked by those first few deals that common sense has come back and the word got around that nobody was going crazy anymore.

The further we get from the first 24 hours of free agency the more realistic the deals will become.

He's a good player, so good for him, but all the guards who have signed have been way overpaid.

Big understatement right there.
