It is pretty fair. Chargers are hoping some teams will give that up because of his age and the potential of him succeeding with the new team.

However, this is bad timing by the agent and Gordon for this. Especially coming off of missing games a season ago and the team didn't miss a beat with the other two running backs. It would have made sense if there wasn't any production from the RB position when he was out.
