Just to break up the police blotter threads...

from Peter King

3. I think the best story I've heard in a while about a guy not forgetting where he was in Saints camp on their last day of the offseason program. Defensive end Charles Grant called over the club's vice president of communications, Greg Bensel, handed him a wad of $100-dollar bills -- 20 to be exact -- and told him he wanted to buy lunch for all the women who work in the team offices. "Can you make it happen?'' Grant asked Bensel. He did, handing the $2,000 to GM Mickey Loomis' administrative assistant, who organized the luncheon field trip for the 20 women in the building. Way to remember where you came from, Charles.

I seem to remember a Braylon thread being criticised because of who he decided to donate money too...

I wonder if this thread will meet similar results.

Good find though, WG...

I'm glad you did post it. I'm one who does think there are more good guys in the NFL than bad ones.

The question is...which one had he asked out, got turned down, and wanted to impress?

:D

Just kidding, that's really verey cool of him. I imagine most of the office personnel are invisible to the players.

So Grant used to be a female office worker? Gosh, how did THAT story slip by the prying eyes of the press!?!?

$100 each? are you kidding me?

Man, if he really wanted to help those women, he would have given them $101 each!! I understand what Grant is trying to do here and I think it's a nice gesture, but it's not enough... it's just not enough

And make next to no money by NFL standards.
Those jobs are just ordinary jobs that pay ordinary salaries.

It is a very nice gesture.

Wonder if Troy ever did that:)

Sure he did. IIRC, his wife, Rhonda used to work in the Cowboys marketing dept.

I'd be pissed if I was the lone guy who works on a computer in those offices. Sitting there eating a sack lunch while all the ladies go out to a nice lunch. haha

Yeah, the poor guys always get left out! Even on camera these players are always saying, "Hi, mom..."! Dad is left out in the cold wondering if his son is really his son and not the milkmans or mailmans boy?

lol Maybe he knocked one of them up, his famous line from this offseason before we re-signed him was when he complained about the $8 million franchise tag that was on him, saying he needs to "feed his family"

All joking aside, hes a class act. Brees, mccallister or grant make headlines for something good locally almost every week

Most of the players in the NFL are quality people, it's just the high profile knuckleheads who make the news. ESPN and the rest of the "tabloid media" just feed off of the crap like maggots.
