Charles Haley be in HOF & HOF Panel be Reconstructed via Goodell Attention?

Got a question and should we start a voting to get votes & emails that are positive to Commissioner Goodell to get his attention to change HOF fame voting towards getting Charles Haley in HOF and others well deserved?

APLast year, the decision of the Hall of Fame voters to omit former Chiefs and Saints tackle Willie Roaf sparked a strong reaction from Jason Whitlock of FOXSports.com, which in turn sparked a somewhat-less-strong-but-still-potent reaction from PFT.

This year, the critics have remained largely silent after the voters dissed Bill Parcells and, once again, Cris Carter.

There could be several explanations for this. First, there’s no national voice who felt compelled to wag a finger at the 44 voters regarding the failure to put Parcells and/or Carter into Canton. Second, it’s inherently difficult — if not impossible — to point to one of the five fresh modern-era inductees and make a convincing case that he should have been left out in favor of Parcells and/or Carter. Third, based on last year’s experience it’s now obvious to anyone paying attention to the process that some of the folks who have the keys to the Hall of Fame voting process neither want nor appreciate criticism, constructive or otherwise, with one voter resorting last year to hurling insults at Whitlock for daring to question things.

In an appearance on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on Sunday, Goodell said the league must address the quality of the game and even said he would consider eliminating the all-star game if it can't be improved upon.

"I really didn't think that was the kind of football that we want to be demonstrating for our fans," Goodell said. "And you heard it from the fans. The fans were actively booing in the stands. They didn't like what they were seeing." Goodell said something has to change.

In other words, fans do get the attention of Commissioner Goodell and do we as fans need to get other pro football teams websites like cowboyszone but other pro teams fans to start getting votes together to send to Goodell and get this HOF voting reconsidered and voting done better and not biased by some voters that shouldnt be voters?

We can as fans get something done, but we have to stand together. Players like Charles Haley, Cliff Harris and Drew Pearson should be in the HOF, at least Haley and Drew Pearson for sure but I am a die hard dallas cowboys fan that is biased I guess and I would like Cliff Harris in HOF too.

So, let your voice be heard. If anyone has a better idea how to get this started to send off to Commissioner Goodell, profootball talk and espn let me know.

They need to just not limit it to 5 recently active players. If the panel thinks you are worthy ... then you are. Cris Carter not in the hall a travesty.

Let current HOF member do the voting and keep the fans and writers out of the process both are equally stupid. Fans don't know what they're talking about the majority of the time and the current voters are clearly biased some openly so. A clean wipe of current voters would get rid of some of the stupid unwritten rules like the 1st time ballot acceptances being nearly impossible even if they're the best player in the crop of eligibles.

Also possibly get rid of the limit to how many can go in.

I disagree with you. Stats in football mean less than any other sport.

Warren Moon I am guessing had better stats because of the offense he ran but is he better ?
and I do think Moon was an excellent QB

Cowboys had Emmitt . Moon had the run and shoot

I think Haley was as big of a reason for the Cowboys dominance of the 90's as any other player on those teams

I'm not a big "fan vote" person but they should do something. Did you guys know about the writer from Minneapolis (since retired) who publicly stated for years he would NEVER vote for a Cowboy. I think Hos has mentioned him a time or two.

There's something with a system that would allow that all those years. It's just human nature that there would be a bias towards certain teams or players, just as there would be favoritism. Look no further than Lynn Swann which applies perfectly to Quest For Six's comments on Haley.

someone said Haley was not deserving for the HOF because he did not have the stats. My point is that stats do not always mean you are important to your team. I used Aikman and Moon as an example. Moon played in a passing friendly offense but I doubt many people think Moon was the better player

I guarantee if a QB had 5 rings... he would in the hall before he retired.

The problem with having only current members of the HoF vote for new members is that many of the current members have a good bit of loyalty for their teams remaining, even after many years. Not only will they be more likely to vote for guys from their team (or even those they PLAYED with) but they may be unlikely to vote for rivals. For example, a die-hard career Commander may have issues with voting in a Cowboy or Eagle. The members of the media are *supposed* to be neutral. Clearly they're not, but perhaps they're more neutral than former players.

In other words, should Hall of Fame HOF have a better HOF Panel of voters to vote then instead of certain sports writers only that are biased, and should Commissioner Goodell be involved? Thats why I put the suggestion and article from Profootballtalk on the HOF and changes that needed to be made. As well as the article that fans objected to the Lousy ProBowl that represented the NFL and way those fans got the reaction from Commissioner Goodell to making some type of change.

So, you vote Yes if you agree with above statement, or No if you disagree.
Or you can vote wouldnt make a difference in what us fans send to Goodell like fans did in the ProBowl game that objected and strongly got Goodells attention. Or you can vote Yes, fans do make a difference, lets get a petition together and get all fans that want to sign it, and contact other NFL teams fans on their cowboyszone like top boards and send our emails and letters to Commissioner Goodell.
