Hope Haley can show some humility and not be an ***. lol

Age and mortality have a way of mellowing you. I think Haley finally understands how "silly" he was as a player. I think this experience has humbled him.

As an aside, two things about the pictures:

1. Haley appears much bigger than Shields.

2. When I see the picture of Jerome Bettis along with the others, I think of that Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?"

I don't know why it irritates me so that Bettis was selected to the Hall of Fame, but it does.

I am very pleased for Tim Brown.

But with his induction, Woody should get in.

Very happy for Haley. Certainly deserved.

But it's important that he devote a small part of his speech to some heartfelt apologies that he owes a ton of people.

I'm glad he's getting his life in order and taking his rightful place in Canton.

Congrats to Haley for making it in......will probably get Jerry to introduce him since he did put him in his ROH. ...or maybe he'll get Jimmy to intro him and won't that make Jerry happy. :muttley:

Maybe it's because Bettis was never a game changing RB. He was very good and I'll never take that away from him, but he got in off Steeler hype and his SB ring.

Bettis' selection to the Hall of Fame was a no brainer. He's 6th on the NFL's all time rushing list. Four of the five ahead of him are already in the Hall, and LaDanian Tomlinson will be as soon as he's eligible.

Not only are all five ahead of Bettis in the HoF (or will be), but by my count, 10 players with less rushing yards than him are in the HoF too.

When I first saw the list of candidates, I found it to be a weak class this year......and that helped Haley finally get his due.......and Bettis became a first ballot inductee. I saw Bettis eventually getting in because of his stats and Steeler hype, but not on the first ballot.

Moral of the story is sometimes you need an off year in order to get some of those who have been waiting to get in and may deserve it. Congrats to all of them.

It won't be Jimmy Johnson - he and Haley didn't exactly see eye to eye.

In 1992, when the Cowboys were playing the Broncos in Denver (a game where Reeves shuttled between Shawn Moore and Tommy Maddox at QB), the Cowboys were not playing well, and Haley, in particular, was awful. Johnson pulled Haley into a john, and told him that his career was going down the toilet, and if he didn't pick up his play, he would be cut. The motivation worked, but Haley did not like Johnson very much.

I didn't think about Lott. That would be way better than Jerry.

He and Lott were very close. When Haley was a 49er, in a game against the Raiders (where Lott went to after the 49ers let him go), the Niners lost, and Haley went into a rage in the locker room, blaming Steve Young for the loss. Haley ended up crying hysterically on the floor, and Lott had to be summoned to calm him down. He was the only one who could do it.

The man hated to lose. Thanks for the story never heard that before.
