Free agent wide receiver Charles Rogers, the second overall pick of the 2003 draft, worked out Friday for the New England Patriots.

Veterans Jabar Gaffney and Kevin Johnson also took part in workouts. If any team could resuscitate Rogers' career, one would think it would be the Patriots. Having the three receivers in to work out suggests that New England is still concerned about the position.

Obviously the Patriots are desperate to bring their passing game back to snuff.

iirc, KC Joyner says that by week 6 of the previous season, the best receiver for the Detroit Lions was Kevin Johnson. And the Pats worked out both Rogers and Johnson. That's pretty amazing.

I am surprised Joyner would say tha. Roy Williams is easily the best receiver for the Lions. His problem is he can't stay healthy.

I think the point was how diminished their receiver corps was. Roy II was often banged up last year. The USC kid is a bust and Carlos Rogers has this dope and motivation problem. So, in terms of performance, Kevin Johnson, a retread, was their best by about midseason.

He will stay healthy this year because he is on my fantasy team.

Mike Williams' problem hasn't turned out to be lack of speed. I hear it is because he is just lazy. That is a surprise. He was a hard worker at USC. Things change when you got to a poorly run franchise with a losing attitude.
