Charley Hughlett

When you have a number of other holes/issues, you don't go and mess with something that is going fine!

To what, save a few $100K? Then they gotta get timing and styles in sync, etc.

No thanks.

Quite frankly, I've always thought having a top notch full back, back up guard/center, long snapper and punter, and blocking TE etc - are way more VALUEABLE to spend money on, than overpaying one aging superstar or paying because of drastic need (we've done this at safety a few times).

This team gets cheap at the weirdest times, when generally Jerry is probably more guilty of overpaying veterans or guys that had 1 solid season for us. That has hurt our depth long-term and is hurting our oline right now - not that I don't like Livings and Bernadeau - as I think they willl be decent.

Don't go mess with the most consistent LongSnapper in the league now - we'd lose 1 game because of a missed FG or snap sailing over punters head - and whammo there go the playoffs for another year because of $300K.

color me ignorant but are we doing this to solely save money or is this to make room for another move?

probably to save money since this really isn't going to save a roster spot unless we trade our use to be starting long snapper for a back up center:p:

Are we signing anyone with that extra $100K we save by doing this? haha..

300k x 2 is 600k, not sure how accurate those numbers are.

We didn't let McBriar go. His contract expired.

If we didn't sign McBriar because the Eagles paid him 300k more that may come back to bite us.
I was thinking that he didn't punt well when he "tried out" for us before signing with the Eagles.

I don't think the Cowboys are concerned about Ladouceur's salary this season. The issue is that he is a Free Agent after this season.

L.P. Ladouceur
2/24/2008: Signed a five-year, $4.25 million contract. The deal includes $870,000 in bonus money. 2012: $790,000, 2013: Free Agent

John Condo
7/29/2011: Signed a three-year, $3.225 million contract. 2012: $1.175 million, 2013: $1.2 million, 2014: Free Agent

It wasn't about money as much as his injury.

They're not. Ladouceur would make $435,000 more than Hughlett.

He did fine on Monday. If he keeps doing fine, younger and cheaper is how the NFL works.

My thoughts exactly. It is not the NFL we used to know.
