I am watching the NFL Network and they've just listed Casserly's 13 - 18 top prospects, as well as reviewing his 7-12. He noted that he is just ranking them as players on the field, thus the inclusion of JJ. He said he would not take him at 15. He also noted Kirkpatrick needs to play in a Cover 2 system. They are:

7. Barron
8. Kuechly
9. Poe
10. DeCastro
11. Floyd
12. Cox
13. Brockers
14. Reiff
15. Jenkins
16. Kirkpatrick
17. Coples
18. Gilmore

This from the man that had the audacity to pick Mario Williams over V.Y. and Reggie Bush. Obviously, he knows nothing (sarcasm off).

I would take DeCastro, Barron, Cox or Poe at 14. I would take DeCastro pretty much no matter what at 14. I would prefer to trade down for the other guys but otherwise would pull the trigger on any of them. Poe is a very big risk -- I think even his biggest defenders admit that. But the upside on this kid is incredible, he fits a need and, IMO, he'd do great in Ryan's system. But, man, is this guy ever a risk. There's just no getting around that.

What I would do has nothing to do with it.

What Jerry has said he will do is the context of predicting the Dallas Draft.

Analyzing his quotes, the contracts he's signed and the free agents he has brought in helps one lead to an educated guess.

Coples, Brockers, Poe all seem to top the Chronicles of Jerrah.

Poe Is Haynesworth and Shawn Rodgers all mixed in one. Freakish athlete
and zero "want to". I wouldn't touch the dude before the 2nd round and even then, I'd hesitate.

Poe is a risk to us but the cowboys should (will) have done their due diligence

if the scouts sign off on him, he will be a difference maker like no other option at 14

if there are significant concerns, take decastro or trade down

That is why I would not pick Poe at 14 regardless of his potential. I don't think we need to take a boom or bust, high risk- high reward type person. I'll tke the sure fire blue chipper every time. He might not make the HOF but he will play in some pro bowls.

Actually, I haven't read anywhere that he is a lazy turd. In fact, I know I've read a couple scoutin services where they say the kid wants to learn, and that he has never really been coached before. He IS the ultimate boom/bust guy. But, MAN, if somebody like the Steelers, Ravens, or Patriots get him, you KNOW he's going to be a stud.

I see your point but every team has a scouting department and every year teams make big mistakes. The fact that your scouts sign off on him doesn't necessarily reduce the risk and it certainly doesn't eliminate it.

But if his name is called at 14 I will be excited (although my excitement will be tempered if DeCastro is still available) in part because the scouts *may* have seen something we haven't (or know something we don't).

Yeah, if memory serves, even after Mayock downgraded him he noted that he's got a great motor. I don't remember the exact wording. His knock (which I haven't seen contradicted anywhere) is that he *will* require a good mentor and some time.
