Charter Fishing on Lake Michigan

I am going to Chicago for the first time in June and I decided to take a serious look at chartering a boat and taking the kids fishing on Lake Michigan. I've done a ton of fishing over the years, but it has all been salt-water which leaves me a little uncertain about what to expect. Has anyone done any fishing on the Great Lakes? If so, I would appreciate some input on what may be the best experience, especially for my two kids.

Head boats are not much fun unless you like elbow to elbow fishing with multiple line tangles.
