How did this guy go undrafted?

He has legit NFL starter measurables.

I see people excited over some other udfas that ran 4.7 forties.

Ward
6-1
198
4.44 forty
37.5 vert
11' BJ

He looks good in game footage.

Small school?

He has an interesting profile. Seems to be a rangy safety with good ball skills

The most underrated CB in the country. Didn't get invited to the scouting combine.

I found this:

If you're looking for a sleeper prospect who is still hovering under the national radar, Ward is your man. A talented cover man with ideal size and length, Ward has all the physical tools to develop into a starter at the next level.

A junior-college transfer who broke up five passes and picked off two more in his first season with the Blue Raiders, Ward followed that up with an impressive senior campaign in 2017, breaking up a team-high 14 passes. This year's deep corner class could make Ward a valuable bargain in the later rounds.

Current draft projection: Day 3

Also this:

Charvarius Ward, CB, Middle Tennessee

Ward is a 6’1”, 195 pound player who looks to be either a late round prospect or even an undrafted free agent. Either way, Ward put on quite the show during his pro day. He posted personal bests in the bench press (12 reps), 40-yard dash (4.47 seconds) and three-cone drill. Ward is getting attention because he is such a good player in coverage and looks to have the tools to develop into a quality NFL player.

In college, Ward had 74 tackles (3.0 for loss), 2 interceptions, 1 sack, 13 passes defended and 1 fumble recovery in two seasons (24 games).

Disregard what I just said, well the part of who the player is. IT's Queire or whatever his name is. Safety from Northwestern. He looks good, at least on Youtube, I',m excited to see what he can do on this level.

It's a well known fact players get their agents to start discouraging drafting a player past the 5th round so they can pick a squad as an UDFA which gives them the best opportunity to make a roster.

As usual the cowboys do well with UDFAs ...i would bet a couple make the team in some way be on the 53 or practice squad

Very good point but I'd say it is more like 6 round on....5th round is still solid for a lot of guys and they are. Happy to be drafted with the slotted money

I agree with the measurable. Does he have any football smarts and how has he performed on the field in games?

When did that ever stop us? We took a kid from BSU in round 1 and Colorado State in round 3. We like that mountain west tough. lol

Him and Lanning I'm most intrigued by.

Lanning, from what I've read, seems to be team first and an all around smart player. Made the adjustment to LB pretty quick from QB. Curious how they see him though(possible future FB?). Will have to be a ST demon to make the squad.

I like Wards measurables. Is he someone that could be a rangy FS?

can he cover? recognize formations? break up passes? hip turn? NFL is not the decathlon....

I'm hoping we find a Church replacement out of these UDFAs. We missed Church badly last season.
