The contract given to new Eagles quarterback Chase Daniel doesn’t scream “starter,” but that doesn’t mean Daniel won’t win the job.

ESPN reports that Daniel’s contract is worth $21 million over three years, with $12 million of it fully guaranteed. That’s $7 million per year, an annual average of more than $10 million per year lower than the two-year, $35 million contract given last week to Sam Bradford.

Why would they give Bradford all of that money, then sign Chase Daniel to that kind of contract and tell him he can compete for QB1?

Were they better off with Chip running personnel?

He's become a pretty decent QB. His number doesn't surprise me as much as Bradford's did.

The QB vet backups are getting thin. Jerry must not have learned anything last year. When Romo gets injured , it will be another wasted season.

I think its a tank year for them. They are probably eyeing Watson or Kelly next year

I am surprised at the numbers he got. That's an eye opener for us if we are thinking about going out and signing a backup. All the more reason we need to think long and hard about taking a QB early to me. Also the reason we may be hearing that Moore is the guy we are thinking about going with at backup. JMO

That deal basically said 'I'm the new HCs guy, watch your back, Bradford. Don't get hurt.' He's QB 1B in PHI as far as I'm concerned. And 1A has questionable skills and is made of glass.

Imagine what the market will look like for us if we wait till Tony is done and we are forced to go out and sign a guy. This is crazy to me but I guess this is the new NFL. Unbelievable the way QBs are getting paid.

What's the fuss over this guy? He's been preseason only since he's entered the league.

Murray was traded and contract reworked wasn't it?

Yep. And IIRC Murray actually received more guaranteed money over the next 2 years so their was a financial gain for him to agree to rework his contract. It was a win win for him. More money up front and he gets to leave Philly.
