Derick (San Antonio): Please answer this, never had one answered. Any chance the Pack trades up with the Niners to grab Lynch before Buffalo? And if so who would the niners target at 16? Willis? Carriker?
Chris Neubauer: Looks like Adrian Peterson, the top RB in the draft, won't make it out of the top 10. And with the Bills and Packers RB needy, the Pack may have to trade up to get their guy Marshawn Lynch, the second best RB in the draft. If the Packers traded up with the 49ers, the 49ers would target LB Patrick Willis or DE Adam Carriker at No. 16 -- one of the two would still be available there
Adrian (San Francsico, CA): Good Afternoon Chris... Do you think that the 49ers will move up to get Calvin Johnson ?
Chris Neubauer: There are probably 31 teams that would love to trade up for Calvin Johnson, in my opinion the best player in the draft, but it will cost a lot to do so. Don't think the 49ers have enough ammo to trade up, and they'll be content to stay at No. 11 where they can get a top LB or DE. Plus, the 49ers could still get a starting-caliber WR in the second round.
Billy (Miami): Who do u think the bills will go for with the #12 overall pick andwho do you think they will go for in the second rd?
Chris Neubauer: Bills need a RB. If Peterson is available at No. 12 (and it's doubtful), they will take him. Marshawn Lynch is also intriguing. But if the Bills don't go RB with their first pick, they will draft a CB like Leon Hall to replace Nate Clements. They could go LB in round two.
AK ( Chicago IL): Hey Chris I hear Mike Martz is real high on troy smith, any chance the lions take a chance on him in round 2 or 3, or if not, where do you think he'll fall?
Chris Neubauer: Absolutely. If the Lions don't take a QB at No. 2, they could definitely go after Smith in Round Three. He could even last until the fourth round.
Jared (College Station): How does the Eagles' WR situation look right now? Can Baskett be an effective #3?
Chris Neubauer: I think the Eagles' WRs corps is better. I'm a big Kevin Curtis fan and he's an upgrade over Donte Stallworth, simply because he doesn't get hurt and will be on the field. Not sure if Baskett is a true No. 3. But I like him for the occassional big play.
Dan ( Owings Mills, MD): Trent- Brad Childress has taken the Vikings from a potential playoff team to a rebuilding team. He has done nothing to upgrade the team in the offseason. Do you think he will be back next year if the Vikings do worse than 6-10? Thanks!
Chris Neubauer: I think Childress will be back in 2008 even with a losing record in 07. There wasn't much left in the cupboard when Childress showed up, so that's not his fault and the turnaround will take a few years.
Mike Denver Co: What do you see the Broncos doing moving up and for who?
Chris Neubauer: If the Broncos stand pat, I think they could draft a play-maker like Ted Ginn, whose stock has fallen because of injury concerns. The Broncos also need help on the defensive line, especially at DE.
Dan, maine: Why wouldn't the Browns take Johnson if he was available? Its not like they have that good of receivers.
Chris Neubauer: Too many other needs for the Browns than to take a WR at No. 3. RB, QB, OL rank above WR at this point. Look for them to take Adrian Peterson or either Quinn or Russell
Kevin (Manassas): So the Bears turned down the trade offer from the Skins for Briggs. Do you think the Skins will look to trade up, or do what they should and trade down to acquire more picks?
Chris Neubauer: I don't think we've heard the last of the Briggs-to-DC talk. I think the Skins might try to sweeten the deal. They seem enamored with Briggs and the Bears are willing to part with him for the right price.
Steve Detroit: All kidding aside...do you see the Lions trading down? If so how far (or many times) do they fall and where (who) do they land?
Chris Neubauer: Lions are definitely interested in trading down, but it won't be far. Look for the Bucs and Falcons to inquire about making deals to move up so they can get WR Calvin Johnson.
John (Arlington, VA): What is it this year with the national media's bias to large market teams. I realized it's existed for a while, but it seems even more prevelent this year. The national meida keeps shredding the Bills for their offseason moves, yet a closer analysis would reveal that EVERY move they've made has made sense for one reason or another. They just see that Nate Clements, London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, and Willis McGahee (i.e. named players) and immediatly call the Bills crazy. Mcgahee was a malicant who didn't gain 1000 yards last season and hated Buffalo, Fletcher is an undersized linebacker who is on the wrong side of 30 and the Bills weren't willing to pay $5 million/year for, Takeo has played in 15 games in the last two seasons, and its ludicrise to make Nate Clements the highest payed defensive palyer in NFL history, especially when you play a cover-2 defense where CBs aren't as important. Where did the good reporting go?
Chris Neubauer: I'm not anti-Bills. In fact, I like the moves where they have gotten rid of Fletcher-Baker, Spikes and McGahee. I wish they would have re-signed Mike Gandy. Didn't like their signing of Derrick Dockery. Now that J.P. Losman has figured himself out and appears to be the QB of the future, I think the Bills are in good shape to get back to the playoffs in the next two years. They just need to find a starting running back. If they can land Adrian Peterson, that would be awesome.
Ryan, Ohio: Browns do have a bunch of needs, think they could trade with Atlanta for their extra 2nd and another pick (3rd rounder or 2nd in '08)? They get CJ and Browns get AP if he drops to 8 or BPA?
Chris Neubauer: The Falcons have so many needs that they are unlikely to part with picks. And, if they trade up to No. 3 there is no guarantee they will get Calvin Johnson, so if the Falcons trade up it will only be to the No. 2 spot to ensure they get CJ. But it seems like a long shot. I'm sure the Browns will entertain trade offers for the No. 3 pick, but if Russell or Quinn are available, I'm fairly certain Phil Savage will take one.
Patrick (Denver): Do you see Al Wilson being traded before the draft. Now that Briggs deal went sour do you see us trading Wilson to the Commanders.
Chris Neubauer: The Skins aren't LB needy. They have three starters right now. They are just enamored with Briggs. Doubt they would want Al Wilson.
Mike (az): Chris, You say you wished the bills resigned mike gandy. With that in mind, how much of an upgrade is he for the cardinals line? Does he give the some flexability in the first couple rounds of the draft where they dont need to reach for a LT
Chris Neubauer: Gandy definitely gives the Cards flexibility. And now there is some talk in league circles that instead of using that No. 5 pick on an OT, they could use it on Adrian Peterson.
Jared (Dallas): With pick 22, doesn't it make more sense for Dallas to draft a bigger wideout like USC's Jarrett than a corner like Revis when they can get good value on a corner later?
Chris Neubauer: I don't like Dwayne Jarrett and don't think he's a first-round talent. I think he is the second coming of Mike Williams, minus the weight issue. He is just a big, slow lumbering wideout. Cowboys need secondary help and could go after a CB like Aaron Ross (Texas) with their first pick.
Wild Bill (AZ): Why? Why I ask would AZ use that pick for a RB? There is no need after the money they just put into thier RB corp
Chris Neubauer: Edge doesn't have a lot left in the tank. Imagine an offense of Leinart, Peterson, Fitzgerald, Boldin together for the next decade. Maybe the Cards will actually be good.
Alex (Bridgewater, NJ): Since the niners are looking for a Carriker, Willis, or Branch, what are the odds if any that the Niners give up their 1st rd draft pick and make a run at Briggs as a franchise LB? Worked for the Broncos last year with Javon
Chris Neubauer: Don't think Briggs is a good fit for 49ers. He's a cover-2 LB not a 3-4 LB. 49ers are better off getting an LB in the draft.
Jeremy (Bellevue, Wa): How is it the Willis goes for a almost nothing, yet a team would pay a 1st rounder for Turner who has done what exactly? Yeah he looked good after LT pounds a team for a few quarters, but is he really worth a 1st rounder? If he was how come he wasnt drafter with much acclaim?
Chris Neubauer: Couldn't agree more with you, Jeremy. A lot of the career backups stumble when they get their first starting job. Look at LaMont Jordan in Oakland and to a lesser extent Chester Taylor in Minnesota. Both guys arrived with huge expectations because they played well as backups and both have had their struggles. Turner is no sure thing. But he could definitely be an upgrade for a team like the Titans.
Mike(The Ohio State University): Hi Chris, I know Todd and Mel have the bengals taking a WLB first round, but they also have a dire need for a CB, with the lack of a real shutdown cb this year, do u think the bengals could trade down in the first to pick up their 3rd rounder they used and still get houston or ross.
Chris Neubauer: In our latest mock draft, we have the Bengals taking a CB with their first pick. We have them taking Darrelle Revis, but they could also take Aaron Ross or Chris Houston, both of whom should be available at that point.
Jim (Rochester, NY): Would any other cover-2 teams show interest in Briggs? Colts? Tampa? Buffalo needs linebackers?
Chris Neubauer: Before the Bucs picked up Cato June, I would have said yes. I think Buffalo could consider it.
AP (Boynton Beach,FL): Chris what do you think about Patrick Willis and would he be a good fit for the pats?
Joe (Boston): Why don't the browns feel like going after Carr and then drafting either AP or Thomas if he's there? I mean he'd have more weapons and his offensive line would be a thousand times better (with signing of Steinbach and Bentley coming back from injuires...)
Chris Neubauer: Joe, I'm a little surprised that the Browns have shown no interest in Carr. They have entered the picture on a potential Trent Green deal, but no word on Carr. I guess, they don't think he's head and shoulders above Charlie Frye.
Mike (New Orleans): Will the Saints have a rookie starter at corner this year?
Chris Neubauer: They should. There are no other starting caliber CBs on the free agent market and no one wants to see Fred Thomas in the starting lineup again. I still believe the Saints will use their first round pick on a CB and then he will start alongside Mike McKenzie.
Bobby (CT): How effective will Stallworth be this year for Brady? Pro Bowl bound?
Chris Neubauer: If Stallworth can stay healthy he has Pro Bowl talent and he will be playing with a Pro Bowl QB for the first time of his career (for a full season). I think Stallworth has a great chance to have a monster season.
AP (Boynton Beach,FL): Chris you never answered my question about Patrick Willis and would he be a good fit for the Pats!
Chris Neubauer: Sorry about that, got a phone call and lost my train of thought. Not sure if Willis is a good fit in a 3-4, but he has tremendous speed and if anyone can convert him it would be the Patriots. Also, not sure Willis will be available at No. 24.
Greg (Iowa): Love your work Chris! Who do you see the Niners targeting at #11? Thanks!!
Chris Neubauer: Our latest mock has the 49ers taking Nebraska DE Adam Carriker at No. 11. He has ideal size and versatility to play in a 3-4 front.
Big Ski, Burgh: Chris, you never answer any of my questions but AP get's 2 in? Steelers>?? Draft Day moves at all up or down?? or nothing?
Chris Neubauer: Not sure if the Steelers will move up or down at this point, but if they stand pat we have them taking Florida State LB Lawrence Timmons in our latest mock. Timmons can play OLB in a 3-4 or 4-3 defense and that raises his value with a team like the Steelers.
RYAN (Denver): Chris, the Broncos haven't "stood pat" in years. Do you think it is more likely they will trade up for an elite DE (Adams, Anderson, Carriker) or trade down and try and pick up a few extra picks? Thanks!
Chris Neubauer: If the Broncos trade, they will trade up. You are right, the elite DEs like Adams, Anderson and Carriker will be off the board by the time Denver picks at No. 21.
Tim (Brielle, NJ): Do you see Chad Pennington starting all 16 games again this year?
Chris Neubauer: Nope. I'll mark him down for 11 starts. I think he'll get injured and Kellen Clemons will come in and play well.
Eric, Ma: Can ATL get Landry at 8 or will they need to move up?
Chris Neubauer: The only team giving the Falcons competition for Landry is possibly the Commanders at No. 6, but Washington will probably go with a DT or DE. If the Falcons can't get Landry they will go with an OT Levi Brown or DT Amobi Okoye with their first pick
Tim (California Viking): Who do you see starting at QB for the Vikings this year?
Chris Neubauer: Randall Cunningham?
Nick (Orlando): Is CJ a lock to the bucs at 4 or will a team like oakland, atlanta, or minnesota make a move for him?
Chris Neubauer: CJ is No. 1 on the Bucs' draft board, but he likely will be a top three pick and the Bucs will have to trade up to get him.
Dez (Atlanta): I think I already know your answer, but I'll ask anyway. Who has a better year - Curtis with a healthy McNabb, or Stallworth with a healthy Brady?
Chris Neubauer: Excellent question. I'll go Stallworth. But know this, I don't think Stallworth will stay healthy. He has had nagging hamstring injuries for the past three years that just won't go away.
Robert, Rochester, NY: If the Bills get Patrick Willis at #12 is this a reach? And if they go that route, who are the best of the rest at RB after Lynch? Would Brandon Jackson be available when they pick in rd 2?
Chris Neubauer: Willis would not be a reach at No. 12. Our latest mock has him going to Miami at No. 9. He is definitely at top-ten talent. RBs 3-5 on our draft board are Auburn's Kenny Irons, Rutgers' Brian Leonard and Ohio State's Antonio Pittman. Not a deep talent pool at RB this year.
Christian (Boise): Lamont Jordan stumbled?? He had over 1,500 total yards his first year in Oakland and 11 touchdowns. It just so happens he also plays on the WORST team in the NFL, that might make a lot of players stumble...
Chris Neubauer: Good point. I was pointing more to last year. Still, if he was so good, then why did the Raiders go out and sign RB Dominic Rhodes and FB-RB Justin Griffith. Obviously, the Raiders aren't completely sold on Jordan.
Chris (New Orleans, La): Good afternoon Chris. You mentioned the Saints looking at a CB in Rd. 1. What is PFWs current projection on who that player will be? Thanks.
Chris Neubauer: Me and our draft expert have conflicting opinions on this. I think the Saints will go CB at No. 27, Nolan Nawrocki thinks the Saints will draft LB Paul Posluszny. Posluszny would be a solid pickup too, but the Saints need to address the CB spot on Day One of the draft.
Soren (LA): Do you think it is wise for the Browns to use the third pick on AP?
Chris Neubauer: Yes. If they don't take AP then they should take OT Joe Thomas.
Jim: Al Davis does a 180 and takes Quinn - do they Lions take J. Russ?
Chris Neubauer: We're predicting the Raiders will take Brady Quinn and that JaMarcus Russell's stock is falling. I think Calvin Johnson should go No. 1, but the Raiders have a ton of WRs and are in desperate need of a QB.
Jim (Ohio): Do you think Poz will be there by then and if not where would he go? He seems to be the best (or 2nd best) OLB available?
Chris Neubauer: Posluszny could go anywhere from No. 11-27.
Frank (Baltimore, MD): What do you see the Ravens doing in the draft? I see probably an OLineman, but what if Aaron Ross was there when they wen to pick? He would be a great fit to make an awesome secondary, what you think?
Chris Neubauer: We've got the Ravens taking USC C Ryan Kalil with their first pick. He has the potential to be a perennial Pro Bowler.
John (Chicago): Are the Bears looking at Quinn or Russell if they pull the trigger & move up to the 6?
Chris Neubauer: Don't see them drafting a QB in the first round so soon after taking Grossman in the first round. If the Bears get the No. 6 pick, they would likely try to trade down first. If that doesn't happen, I think they would take a Dlineman or an OT.
Zach (Orlando, FL): The Dolphins are getting old on D but also need a QB and WR help. What do you envision for them in Round 1 and 2? Is trading up/down in the cards?
Chris Neubauer: The Dolphins are enamored with QB Brady Quinn and I think they will inquire about how much it will cost to trade up for him. We have them taking Ole Miss LB Patrick Willis if they stay at No. 9
Chris (Pueblo, CO): I heard that Gruden is supposed to meet with Jake Plummer. Is there ANY chance Jake will come back and if he does, who will be Tampa's starter? Plummer or Garcia?
Chris Neubauer: Doubtful Gruden will get Plummer to come out of retirement. Even if Plummer decides to come back, the Bucs will try to trade him because Garcia is the starter.
LenDale White: Stopping answering the questions about the same players and answer a question about....well me because I am great, I'm going to get an easy 1,200 this season why are the Titans even considering wasting a first round pick on Turner he's still just a backup?
Chris Neubauer: You'll get 1,200 yards, LenDale, if you stop consuming 12,000 calories per day. As soon as your waistline goes down, your yardage total will go up.
Sean, Hampton, NH: Any chance pats send one of there #1 picks to bears for briggs??? or would it be too much of a cap hit?
Chris Neubauer: Again, Briggs is not a 3-4 linebacker. The Pats would be better off drafting one.
Eric, Sioux City, IA: The Dolphins have wasted too many draft picks on QBs for the position to still be unsettled -- an early 2nd rounder each for Culpepper and Feeley.
Chris Neubauer: Agreed. That's why the Dolphins are a mess on offense right now.
Carlos, South Beach: Would Jon Beason be a good fit for the Pats?
Chris Neubauer: Absolutely. We have the Pats taking Beason at No. 24 in our latest mock.
X ( Dallas ) : Chris, please name some 3-4 NT in this years draft. Doesnt seem like any are available.
Chris Neubauer: Alan Branch maybe. Adam Carriker could play some NT in the 3-4, but not every down.
Zach (Orlando, FL): Is Culpepper done for good? Were his numbers inflated because of Moss? Does he have anything left to offer?
Chris Neubauer: Culpepper is done in Miami. His numbers were inflated because of Moss. With Moss, Culpepper could just throw the ball up and Moss would come down with it. Culpepper will get a chance with another team, but maybe only as a backup.
Andy (Denver): Is there a link to your Mock Draft or do you have to pay for it?
Chris Neubauer: Starting April 13th, you will be able to access our mock for free every friday at ProFootballWeekly.com. Until then, you can go out and buy the latest issue on the news stands.
andy (MN): How serious should the Vikings be about pursuing a QB such as Carr or Green? And, do you think they'll do so this off-season?
Chris Neubauer: They need to get someone. Green is no different than Brad Johnson. Carr would be worth a look. I don't like entering the season with Tarvaris Jackson as the starter
Joe (AZ via Chicago): Since we're still talking about Briggs, wouldn't Cincinnati or New York (Giants) be a good fit??
Chris Neubauer: Maybe the Giants because they are so desperate at LB. Don't think Briggs would fit in the Bengals' system.
Rob (Auburn, AL) : The Panthers are in talks with David Carr today. Do you know how this is going? Do you see him signing with the Panthers?
Chris Neubauer: If he signs with the Panthers, I definitely think he could push Delhomme for the stater's job if Delhomme gets off to another slow start. The Panthers need a No. 2 QB and I think Carr would be a nice fit.
Travis, Canada: Chris, I own a copy of the draft proview and yet you won't answer my questions! Saints need a quality Q.B back-up, then I read last week that Drew Bledsoe might be interested, think about it he knows the system and likes Sean Payton!
Chris Neubauer: With that great offensive line, Brees doesn't get hit much and should stay healthy. Jamie Martin is an OK backup if he needs to make a spot start or two. I don't think Bledsoe is that interested in New Orleans because he would have NO shot of competing for a starting job and I think he still wants to start.
James (Dallas, TX): Is Oakland interested in Carr? Then they could draft CJ and I thought Al Davis is in love with CJ.
Chris Neubauer: If the Raiders sign Carr, then I believe they will take Calvin Johnson No. 1. But I still think the Raiders will go Quinn or Russell.
Kyle (KC): Mare to the Saints for a 6th. Doesn't that make Green worth at least a 3rd?
Chris Neubauer: Or a second-round pick like the Chiefs have been demanding.
Chris Neubauer: Thanks for all of the very thoughtful questions. I've got to go now. It's been fun!
Adrian (San Francsico, CA): Good Afternoon Chris... Do you think that the 49ers will move up to get Calvin Johnson ?
Billy (Miami): Who do u think the bills will go for with the #12 overall pick andwho do you think they will go for in the second rd?
AK ( Chicago IL): Hey Chris I hear Mike Martz is real high on troy smith, any chance the lions take a chance on him in round 2 or 3, or if not, where do you think he'll fall?
Jared (College Station): How does the Eagles' WR situation look right now? Can Baskett be an effective #3?
