I still think there is a possibility he contributes this year. Kind of a typical Iowa prospect. Those are are always good as far as fundamentals. If there is a rookie we draft that I think could come in cold and contribute, its Golston

What’s the latest with this guy? Has he been injured all camp and preseason? I haven’t heard one word about him.
PUP

Might as well keep him on PUP as this point. Then he does not count against the cut to 53 but can return during the season.

He'll most like redshirt this season.

Probably has more to do with an overflow of options at the position than anything else.

Which is why I was against that pick for a 3rd rounder.
Should have used that 3rd round pick used on DE Chauncey Golston on a backup QB instead. THIS is where the Cowboys messed up...in my opinion.

I heard on one of the team's podcasts that Golston has been doing rehab on the side with cords for the past 2 weeks. So he's probably not too far from practicing albeit on a limited basis.

Exactly. Even if he were to get healthy in the next week we'll go that route. It's a little tougher with the guys who played and then got hurt (Gallimore, McKeon, maybe Ball) . In order to bring them back they need to count against the original 53

Kyle Trask? He was drafted in the 2nd round not third.
Ok, so Trask was the last pick taken in the 2nd round. I was 1 pick spot away from being correct. The point is there were QBs to be had in the 3rd round if the Cowboys were ever serious about covering their behinds in case Dak got injured and/or their current backups totally suck as we see now.

What's so hard to understand about that? Cowboys simply messed up by refusing to address the backup QB position in the draft.

With as bad as the defense was....it didn't make sense to take a QB that high.
I totally disagree. Look at the dilemma we currently are in? If Dak goes down with another injury, this season is toast! All because the Cowboys are hardheaded and refuse to take the backup QB position seriously. That's the most important backup position on the team which we all know why. Just look at last season as a perfect example of what happens...

We had a pretty good backup QB last season, probably one of the best in the entire league. Didn't help our situation, but a top 5 starting QB would have had a hard time with all the 2nd tier backups we were starting.

That was last year. Andy Dalton left by season's end, so we knew come draft time that we had a serious hole at the backup QB position, yet the Cowboys refused to address it during the draft. How has that decision worked out so far? Not too good, huh? Let's not defend this front office's incompetency.
