Seriously, we should bubble wrap him the rest of the preseason. And then, make him the swing tackle so he doesn't have to play unless one of the starting Ts gets injured. He has value in small doses, but will never be durable enough to start.

His back is fine. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have seen the field last week.

This does stink though.
Yes...not saying it's a disaster in terms of Smith's health...just the cold reality that we may now have ZERO room for error at LT if something were to flare back up. I have no confidence in Green at this point.

...jeeshe...Figures!...he can never be trusted to be a starting LG or RT...maybe he can stay healthy enough to be a "swing" tackle and/or guard!?...

What a shame, he has the talent to be a solid T, but can't even stay healthy in practice.

Sounds more like a desire issue. I am thinking more and more it isnt going to happen for him here.

While we are all disappointed that he's injured again, let's be careful to remember that he's still a fellow human who probably feels worse than we do about it and would be out there if he could.

Desire and willingness to play through pain is what distinguishes good from average players, great from good players.

These are not devastating injuries. A back thing here, strained foot there, back thing this day, shoulder thing that day. I think he has injured practically every body part except for his knees and ankles. Then another day he has cramps.

And the tragic part is that this could have been discovered by digging hard into his college past.

He was consistently unreliable at Florida as well. The warning flags were clearly present.
