Actually with a 3rd round pick you would hope he would outright earn a starting position on his own at some point. He has been "good enough" so far, but nothing to write home about.

I would have hoped he would be good enough to beat out Doug Free by now, who was also a 3rd round pick if I remember correctly. It sometimes takes a while for offensive linemen to come into their own so he still has time to develop.

If he never becomes more than a spot starter and a solid swing tackle that is probably not a home run, nor a wasted pick. All contributions add up.

Remember last year he was lost due to injuries and pre-draft surgery. He is in essence his rookie year. If he can play the right side when Smith comes back I all for it, but IIRC he played LT in college and was having issues with the switch to right. It may be pipe dream seeing him this year at RT maybe next.

I think so. He's really a RT as he's a good run blocker, but just doesn't quite have the feet for LT. However, he's basically a redshirt rookie. I'm not nutty about having him start at LT, but I expect him to be a quality RT and probably more consistent than Free was/is at the position.

Loved him going into the draft, was worried about his non-existent rookie year so I put my expectations at an all-time low. I think he's handling the LT spot well. I noticed him struggle, but he had a bad rookie season due to injury and he's playing one of the tougher offensive positions and I give him a passing grade from just my eye test. While this wasn't the ideal way of getting him snaps, this is a great way of grooming him to take over for Free who won't be here next season.

I agree with every word of that. He is young, inexperienced and out of position - and still held his own. He is a RT and not a LT, but he will be a very good starting RT next year.

Hated pick at first because Cowboys needed D help badly, still do annoyingly enough. Green is not a future pro bowler at LT, but he's holding his own and improving every game.

Are you gloating because he was your pet cat or because you feel that the FO gets every draft pick right?

He doesn't have the best feet in the NFL but his feet are better than most starting LT that I've seen. Only time I've seen it be an issue is when he wore down at the end of games. The first two steps of his kick out are more than quick enough IMO.

I'm commenting because instant evaluators and the lack of anticipating player development are delicious.

Having Dak back there helps hide a lot of blemishes on the line, and Green hasn't faced any noteworthy pass rushers yet.

But he's done really well. I need to stop holding him to Tyron standards and realize besides a couple plays in each game, he's done his job.
