"Cheap, effective help" is probably an oxymoron, but I am wondering what we can scrounge up off of the waiver wire at the cut to 53. What can we realistically expect to catch off of the waiver wire? Or, what could we get for a late round pick?

I would think that it's almost certain that we will either make a trade for a safety or pick one up off of the waiver wire or a free agent after the 53 man roster cut downs.

I would also think we will need another couple of OL. I can't imagine Chaz Green making the 53. Fleming will probably make the 53 but he hasn't played inspiring football. It's hard to know what we have other than Tyron, Williams, Looney, Martin and Collins.

It looks to me like we have 5 exceptional/very good/good linemen and at best a question mark after that.

I could see us trading away a DE for a pick. I would hate to see Tapper traded in that scenario, but he might be the most likely trade candidate.

I also wonder if we get an opportunity to claim a guy at a position of strength that we wouldn't see coming. That's more of an outlier, but it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility.

Why would anyone want Tapper? He hasnt done anything but get injured. You wouldnt even get a 7th round pick for him.

Pretty much every team in the league already has a Charles Tapper on their roster, some deep reserve height-weight-speed guy they are trying to develop. I would be surprised if we could get a conditional 7th for him.

Fleming could go. We actually paid him peanuts, and only guaranteed 1mil. I wonder if someone would trade for him. Or even Chaz. Chaz could be one of those "we can do better with him". Not that we get much of anything out of either trade. Conditional 7th? But it's better than nothing, and a team might be willing to give it up rather than take their chances on the waiver wire

That's what *we* should do. There was a story recently about a guard at Cincy they're likely cutting. If Alexander likes him, we should offer them something for the trade instead of getting cute and playing the waiver wire.

Tapper does look like trade bait. Maybe Jordan Lewis? Rod Smith? They might like Darius the Great better as the #2.

We have cheap help right now. We see how effective they are in pre season replacing our starters.

Jordan Lewis? Rod Smith? Really? How deep are we beyond these players? Who comes in for Zeke if we trade Rod Smith? That fat slow guy with little to no acceleration? The drop off between the two could rival our grand canyon. At this point I wouldn't even trade Fleming. It will do us no good trading players from positions we need to fill in for other positions of need.

We need Fleming b/c Tyron is a 50/50 bet or worse to play 16 games and we can't put Chaz in there. Quality depth for cheap is not a bad thing. Nobody is trading for Chaz after his performance last year and this preseason. He's a testament to the fact that the grey matter should factor into draft decisions as much as 40 times. The guy looks like he should be a dominant OT but there is a defect between his ears.

Need to trade for OL now, heart and soul of Cowboys is OL and ZEKE !!!!!!!

I'm looking for the normal progression here...we'll pick up some no names in which some people will sarcastically say "Championship" while others will say "we're just churning the bottom of the roster" instead of "camp body" and others will complain about it regardless of who it is because "they wouldn't be available if they were any good". :muttley:

Nobody would trade any value for Tapper, and if we tried to peddle Tapper that would be a sign we probably don't plan to keep him, so teams would wait and try to make a deal after he is cut.

I can see trading a guy like Tapper too. Noah Brown also. I think we would have to sweeten the pot with a draft pick if we want more than JAG though. If we keep 7 WR's at the expense of a S, G or C I'll be like whaaaaat! But I've been like that before. I still believe we will see Byron back at safety if Woods isn't ready to go. Agree Verdict we need to make a move at C and S at the least. Apparently Edwards played well enough so that's Chaz and Edwards as back up G. I'll be surprised if Chaz doesn't make the 53. That's just my thought though

Tapper possibly. Darius over Rod, no freaking way.
Darius has been getting carries be Bo, so why would you think they would keep Darius over Rod. They would have ben playing him before Bo if they thought that.
Yes I guess one could say they know what they have in Darius, and want to see what Bo can do with the 2nd team. But I don't think that is the case. Though Darius has looked better than Bo. But neither may make the team.

I doubt Fleming goes either. I don't think they want 3 back up OL with no team experience to the playbook.
Green, yes he can be replaced easily or should be.

Tapper was a 4th or 5th round? So yes a 7th would be good at this point.
