I wouldn't miss it.

Use to love it but the refereeing just got too much for me to handle this year (i know, it's about time).

The complete lack of competency got to me as well.

Derrick Rose shot was pretty much given FT's if a player so much as attempted to contest his shot.

The tiny ticky tacky fouls have went overboard. It's VERY apparent that the star players are given preferential treatment. Let's be honest Dirk went to the FT lane way to often as well.

The players flopping more then ever drove me crazy as well.

Lets be real honest.. until the last game or game and a half, Miami got alot of calls their way that series.. alot of bs calls at that. Dirk gets fouled almost every play, and not just in the playoffs. He's always getting handchecked, shoved, etc.. every time he touches the ball. No matter how many foul calls he gets, it won't ever be too many for the amount of time he's actually fouled.

Fair enough.

I just read Wilbon's article on it that is post above. With the way the NHL sacrificed one full season to get a better all around business model in place and having owners from the NHL also owning NBA teams, I think they're willing to sacrifice 2011-2012 to retool the NBA as well.
The NBA lockout is similar to the NHL lockout in that you literally have a situation where several teams will do better financially by not playing the entire season than they would have done by playing. In other words, many teams will lose less money by simply taking the year off.

We're very fortunate that that is not the situation in the NFL. And that's why the NFL will figure things out very soon, whereas the NBA is in legit danger of losing the entire year.

Let's be real honest.. 90% of the fouls called don't effect the actual shot at all. It is ridiculous for grown men to play like children. They whine and throw temper tantrums if they are even slightly grazed by an opponents hand.

I am not for full contact street ball by any means, but these "men" play like little boys. It's clear as day that they expect to be handed easy points if they are even remotely contested.

That is not just Dirk, thats 98% of the players in the league.

I just find it funny that you bring up Dirk going to the FT line too often, yet didn't say a word about the bs calls Miami was getting the first 3 or 4 games of the series.

Trust me.. any FT's Dirk gets, he earns. He gets assulted as soon as he touches the ball.

This is true. Bill Simmons had an article showing the disparity of the FT attempts by each team. I forget what it was going into the fourth quarter of game 6 of that particular game, but it was a huge difference. 3:1 perhaps? The series itself was lopsided as well. I'd be willing to venture that Dirk's forearms look like a martial artist's who has their black belt they've been so beat up and tempered to violent impact.

It started in 2002 for me and my NBA fandom died in 2005. The Mavs went to the NBA finals the very next year and I didn't even watch it.

The only reason I brought him up, was the large number of times he got to shoot.

I am more focused on players like D.Rose and Lebron who HAVE to get fouled in order to have good games.

After reading articles this week to I think this could be solved w/ increased Revenue sharing, the $300m(closer to $400m by October) in player give backs, and the potential euro division taking over some of the least profitable teams in 10 years.

Hell, even throw a sponsor on the jerseys. Just dont miss a season. Don't be lame owners

sure they'd rather break the players if they can help it, but wouldn't la, ny, chi etc rather split more between the fledging franchises than to lose a year of profits?
