Thing that drove me nuts at the start of the game: We are playing musical chairs at RB, running jet screens, and the announcers are saying, "they are just trying to figure something out". Guys, the time to figure out the running game is in the OFFSEASON. You SHOULD know how you plan to gain yards on the ground WAY before the season starts.

We literally entered this year thinking, 'Zeke comeback!' And that was the entire plan.
Brady called out the Boys several times, he knows a fake when he sees on and the Cowboys are in deep trouble!

Agreed.

Problem is. Our incompetent FO does nothing in FA. And so our only hope as fans is for rookies from the draft to be ready to play from game 1 and be good.

It’s just not realistic most of the time.
I've had 4 of our fellow forum members insisting that the OL and LB corp were already upgraded before playing a single game.

Now if a LB corp that doesn't have a safety playing MLB is an UPGRADE, I can agree with that but Guyton, Beebe, Liufau, Overshown and Carson all have to play at least half a season before we can seriously start debating their merit

No reason to jump the gun

Rico - 30 yards
Zeke - 16
Dak - 12
Deuce - 11
Turpin - 2
Cooks minus three

Hard for any team to win with those rushing numbers.
But our answer to helping the running game this year was not to draft a RB and add two older cheap RBs in Zeke and Dalvin.
It all starts up front.....This team wasn't counting on Martin caving in as bad as he has. He's completely taken a nosedive off a cliff by week 2.

We need help on the interior.....And not much out there.

Mason Cole........Move Beebe to RG?

I think for the time being Bass should be starting....

It’s embarrassing of a running game. The GM failed the team this year.
I am not sure our running game improveswith 1 GOOD RB alone, it is the scheme and blocking too , Decline of Martin is surprising , Steeleis still not thesame and Guyton and Beebe are rookies, the NO coach knows how to get them. Only TylerSmith was good

We already knew our run game was going to be atrocious. I called it from the start but people here were delusional and thought this offense was strong enough to power past that. No. It isn’t. A strong run game is a strong offense. No run game? No offense. We saw that today.

It’s going to be a long season of 3 yard runs and stuffing the box, leaving Dak to air it out with his weak, inaccurate arm, leading to interceptions beyond our comprehension.

Exactly. It’s not fair for us fans and quite frankly it’s just not even fair to guys like Guyton and Beebe. There’s nothing wrong with rookies needing time. It falls on the FO for not having some vets to play in those roles until the rookies are ready to be productive players.

Most teams in the league have two backs better than of our backs. Watch these other games and see the speed and explosiveness we lack. Same goes for all receivers not named Lamb.
Our problem is there is too much Zeke.

Hes way too big of a part of our offense.

Its a big play league and he is anti big play.

Play Dowdle and play Vaughn but do not feed Zeke. Hes a situational player and thats it.

We need a rb. We all knew this. The oline is young, we all knew this.

It's not as bad as it currently looks though.

It'll probably look bad next week also.

Starting off the season against:
Browns
Saints
Ravens
Was not going to lend itself towards a strong run game. Carolina couldn't run on the Saints, Jacksonville couldn't run on the Browns. KC, nor LA have ran on the Ravens.

That's not even getting into these ridiculous game scripts...

This is the problem. Our offensive weapons are CeeDee and maybe Ferguson, who is injured. How hard does that make it for a defense? This is why Dallas is going to lose more games than they win.
Its a problem.

Saints were doubling CD most of the day.

To be fair, Zeke didnt see the field until late 1st QTR/early 2nd QTR?

I heard a stat after the browns game that next gen stats said zekes expected yards per attempt week one was above 6 ypc. He ended up averaging 4.

I don't know how they come up with the numbers, but basically the blocking was good enough that he should have averaged over 6 ypc last week.

In the past, he was ok to start the season and would wear down as the season went on. But if he's already this bad to start the year, I don't see how he can get anything more that short yardage carries going forward.

But this is the cowboys. So they will continue to play him even when they shouldn't just based off his name and history

zeke should only come in on 3rd and 2 or less.. or inside the 5 yard line. no where else.

he should be our Bus Jerome Bettis yet we use him like a featured back still.

i think Jerry will want to see cook next week, and if nothing works. he will have to trade for one…

Zeke is definitely done. He should be relegated to 3rd and short (or long, for the pass protection).

The team has to trade for a RB or this season is doomed. We are woefully under equipped at the position
